The maid curtsied as the children came running, and I stepped aside. I had no desire to squeeze into the center, and I also wanted to avoid them after Ronowe had just rammed her head into my chin.
“Far away?”
“I wanna see too!”
They had only ever stacked blocks, solved puzzles, or played with dolls in the playroom, so of course they were excited. The Fleur Siblings showed tremendous interest in this new game. They both reached out to grab the map.
“I’ll show you right now, so please wait just a moment.”
With a gentle smile, the maid calmed the restless children and called another maid over. Together they unrolled the scroll.
“It’s called a treasure hunt!”
The maid who seemed even more excited than the children shouted proudly and spread the treasure map wide open.
There were X marks scattered throughout what looked like a maze, and in the center was a drawing of a huge tree—it seemed perfectly designed to ignite a child’s sense of adventure.
“So we’re going to find treasure?”
“Something shiny?”
As expected, the Fleur Siblings did not disappoint. Expectation and excitement overflowed from their two pairs of red eyes, and their tightly clenched fists practically screamed that they wanted to start the treasure hunt right away.
“Yes, of course.”
The maids smiled and answered with smiles at their innocent appearance.
