Long ago, riding a warp created by the distortion of space-time through the power left behind by Yong Yong’s physical body, I secretly moved to the temple’s courtyard—only to encounter the World Tree, seemingly reduced to nothing but a gaunt skeleton.

Lilith had said it wouldn’t last much longer, so I hoped it was still alive—if not, it was gone forever; but if it was, perhaps we’d meet again someday.

The problem was that the place where it resided was the temple—so even if we met again, how could I possibly approach it?

Meanwhile, Lilith glanced sideways at the door through which Freyrie had vanished. I couldn’t tell what she was thinking, but her expression clearly resembled that of someone who had just caught an intriguing scent—the scent of a secret.

“Perhaps you’ve seen something you weren’t meant to see.”

Soon after, Lilith, wearing her usual faint smile, held out toward me the recommended book she’d brought. It was a curious volume bound in thick crimson-dyed cloth and leather, its front and back adorned with intricate white patterns.

Its unusual appearance made me wonder what kind of information it contained that warranted such an air of rarity and expense—perhaps something like the book Ronowe had been utterly obsessed with a few years ago.

“What is this?”

I narrowed my eyes as I asked. At the same time, I watched to see which page Lilith would open once she placed her recommended book on the stand.

Normally, one would start by opening to the first page and checking the table of contents, but Lilith kept flipping past it. Since she deliberately ignored the obvious sequence, it was clear the book truly held some confidential information meant specifically for me.

“You’ll gradually come to understand, Your Highness.”

While she confirmed my inner suspicion almost as if it were already fact, Lilith finally stopped at a certain page and lifted her finger away. It seemed the content she’d wanted to show me had at last appeared.

“There are many interesting beings around Your Highness, after all.”
