I bought scallions, pancake mix, frying batter, chives, onions, and chili peppers from the snack shop. Since I couldn’t find squid, I used the legs of a monster called “Scuba,” which looked similar to squid.

If you want your pancakes crispy, you must mix pancake mix with frying batter. I made the batter thinner than usual pancake batter and added the rest of the ingredients.

Scuba’s body glowed with a fluorescent blue hue, making the batter shimmer in an oddly mesmerizing color.

‘It looks a bit like questionable food…’

I briefly regretted using Scuba, but thinking “if it tastes good, it’s all worth it,” I started frying the batter. Dungeon-style seafood pancakes sizzled golden-brown in the oil.

By the time I’d made about four pancakes, the kitchen was filled with a savory aroma. Teddy and Mogyeon had already snuck one pancake each and were munching away quietly.

“How does it taste?”

“It’s delicious! Crispy on the outside and chewy inside! The vegetables and batter blend perfectly with a savory seasoning that keeps making me crave more!”

Somehow, Teddy seemed better at describing pancakes than I was. Anyway, I was glad they tasted good.

“Pancakes go really well with makgeolli. Since it’s raining today, maybe we should offer makgeolli and pancakes as a special treat for our guests.”

“That’s a great idea!”

From then on, I fried pancakes like a machine. Teddy also learned how to make them and joined me, frying alongside me.

After doing it several times, I could flip pancakes one-handed using just a flick of my wrist.

“Master! What’s that? How did you do it?”
