No Evil Lady in the World (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 97
Ariante opened one eye as if ready to hear any odd remark, but only closed it again obediently upon hearing Meiana say, “My lady, you must keep your eyes shut.”
Brigitte once more marveled at Ariante’s long eyelashes, which fluttered like curtains each time she blinked.
“Goodness! I never realized your eyelashes were this long, my lady. Honestly, you could probably balance a matchstick on them—they look like they’d make a fluttering sound!”
Unable to hold back her laughter, Meiana let out a soft giggle. Just as she finished wiping Ariante’s face clean, Ariante, wide-eyed, turned to Brigitte and said,
“That’s called flattery.”
For a moment, Meiana and Brigitte’s eyes met. Brigitte wore an utterly embarrassed expression.
Meiana spoke.
“My lady, Brigitte is…”
“It’s not flattery!”
Brigitte cried out. This time, not only Ariante but even Meiana turned to look at her in surprise.
“Flattery? No, absolutely not! I truly don’t know how to flatter at all. If I did, wouldn’t I be earning a much higher wage than I do now? Or perhaps I’d have already snagged a husband and gotten married! But you see, I simply can’t say things I don’t mean. I got into terrible trouble for it once! There was this ill-tempered aunt of mine—I told her she looked like a wicked old hag, and she beat me so hard my bottom felt like it was on fire!”
Though her words included phrases unsuitable for a seven-year-old’s ears, Brigitte spoke so quickly that Meiana couldn’t stop her in time. Even Ariante, who had just scolded her with a pouty frown for “flattering,” now stood dumbfounded, lips parted, utterly stunned by Brigitte’s outburst.
Brigitte smiled—a gentle, utterly guileless expression.
“So, my lady, everything I say is true. You really are as beautiful as an angel! Your golden hair is like tiny dandelions, and your eyes—oh, your eyes! When I look into them, I’m reminded of my childhood. Where I lived, there was a very clear stream; on sunny days, the sky reflected in it like a mirror, appearing the most vivid blue. Your eyes are exactly that color!”
Ariante looked back and forth between Brigitte and Meiana. Then, suddenly making a petulant face, she stuck out her lips and twisted the bedsheet as if tearing it apart for no reason.

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)
One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.
On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.
Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.
News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.
Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.
But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.
The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.
The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”
So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.
She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.
*
After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.
Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.
Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.
She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.
“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
