Meiana, chuckling softly, stroked Ariante’s shoulder as if feeling sorry for her.

“Of course, my lady. And I won’t let anyone bully you. According to Mr. Jemero, the child is kind-hearted.”

“Do I have to call him ‘older brother’?”

“He’s older than you, my lady. But you don’t necessarily have to call him that. You could just be friends. Doesn’t that sound nice?”

“If another child comes, will you have to take care of them now, Meiana?”

Meiana replied.

“No, not at all. I’m here to look after and care for you, my lady. Even if that child arrives, another maid will attend to them. Well… maybe you could play together sometimes. But you’ll be there too, won’t you? So there’s absolutely nothing to worry about.”

Ariante said,

“If they want to learn how to climb trees… I could teach them.”

The smile that had appeared at the corner of Meiana’s lips grew even brighter.

“You’re so kind, our Lady Ariante. And so impressive too! I doubt there’s any other little sister in the world who could teach her older brother how to climb trees!”

“I could teach them hide-and-seek too. I’m really good at hiding—nobody can ever find me.”
