My Perfectly Flawed (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
Yu In could only stare up at Ki Yeon with a horrified expression, as if she’d witnessed something she shouldn’t have.
She tried to ask why he was here, but the words shattered into fragments, merely circling helplessly in her throat.
Looking down at Yu In, who could only blink blankly, Ki Yeon’s face remained unreadable—
somewhere between annoyance and amusement. But what exactly was so amusing?
“Who are you?”
It was Ji Han who broke through the suffocating silence following Ki Yeon’s entrance.
Startled by Ji Han’s voice, tinged with wariness and discomfort, Yu In glanced around at her bewildered friends before finally parting her tightly sealed lips.
“Oh… um… guys, this is Director Do from my sister’s agency.”
“Huh? Your sister Yu Jin’s agency? Ilrang?”
“Yeah.”
When Yu In nodded, Jae Hee—quick to adapt—offered a greeting first, though still dazed.
“Hello.”
“Yes, hello.”
Ki Yeon replied with a composed smile, his gaze gliding past Jae Hee until it settled on Ji Han.
In response, Ji Han merely gave a curt, indifferent nod.
Ki Yeon grinned more deeply than before, then turned back to Yu In, who was still staring at him with flushed cheeks.
“You came here for dinner with your friends, I see.”
“…Yes. But why are you here, Director?”
“I’m here for reasons similar to yours, Ms. Yu In.”
That wasn’t what she’d asked. His evasive answer made Yu In’s brows twitch in mild frustration.
Her brief, cheerful mood—momentarily lifted by chatting with her friends—sank rapidly again as the image of that man and woman, unmistakably an ideal couple, resurfaced vividly in her mind.
Ki Yeon gave a short laugh, then lightly patted the delicate shoulder he’d been holding all this while.
“I’ll talk to your manager, so go ahead and order whatever you’d like to eat.”
“No… you really don’t have to do that.”
“Don’t refuse me today.”
Though his voice remained calm and unhurried, the hand on her shoulder tightened firmly before pulling away.
“Then enjoy your time here, Ms. Yu In’s friends.”
“Have a good day.”
As Jae Hee finished her polite farewell—carefully watching his every move—the man, who’d seemed about to turn away, shaped his hand like a phone and tapped it twice with the fingers of his other hand.
What was that supposed to mean? Still staring at Ki Yeon, Yu In glanced down at her phone resting quietly on her lap. When she looked up again, he was already stepping out through the restaurant entrance.
The moment Yu In turned back after watching until Ki Yeon’s jacket disappeared from view, an excited Jae Hee lunged toward her.
“Hey, hey! That guy’s the director of Ilrang Entertainment? Seriously?”
“Yeah.”
“Really? He looks so young for a director! How old is he?”
“…He’s thirty-one.”
“Wow. I’d believe he was in his twenties. But more than that—his face is absolutely unreal! And he’s so tall, his suit just fits perfectly! He could totally be a celebrity himself.”
Jae Hee gushed, saying he was the most handsome and charismatic man she’d seen lately.
Yu In half-heartedly nodded along, but her mind was clearly elsewhere.
Her thoughts had spiraled from “Why did that man—whom I just saw with his girlfriend at a hotel—come all the way here to act familiar with me?” to “If he already has a lover, why contact me and tell me to eat whatever I want?”—and somehow, she was starting to feel inexplicably upset.
“If he’s your sister’s agency director, fine—but why did he grab your shoulder?”
Ji Han’s normally gentle baritone now sliced sharply into Yu In’s ears, abruptly severing her train of thought.
Startled, Yu In turned to see Ji Han’s angry face.
“Shoulder? Oh, right… I guess he did.”
Mumbling vaguely, Yu In glanced at Jae Hee, silently asking why she was so mad—but Jae Hee just shrugged, equally clueless.
“What do you mean ‘I guess he did’? How did you even meet that guy, and how do you know his age?”
“Hey, he works at my sister’s company, so of course I met him through her.”
Trying to help the flustered Yu In, Jae Hee quickly interrupted—but it only seemed to irritate Ji Han further, deepening her scowl.
“Nam Yu In, you answer me.”
“What does it have to do with you? Does Yu In need your permission to meet anyone?”
“Han Jae Hee, are you Nam Yu In’s spokesperson? Back off a little.”
Trending
“Back off? You’re the one drinking and partying with women—do you report every single time to Yu In? Has she ever grilled you about it? If you’re friends, act like one and keep proper boundaries.”
“When have I ever drunk with women? Have you seen me? Are you trying to piss me off?”
“Do I need to see it to know? And you’re the one who started being annoyed, you jerk! You ruined the whole mood and now you’re acting like it’s nothing.”
Caught between her arguing friends, Yu In let out a heavy sigh and pressed her temples.
She didn’t understand why Ji Han suddenly blew up, why Jae Hee was so furious, or even what that man—who’d unsettled her heart only to vanish—was thinking. Her head was pounding.
Just as their heated exchange peaked, Yu In’s phone buzzed briefly against her dress.
Still keeping her head down, she reached out and tapped the notification.
[Come out to the entrance for a moment.]So that hand gesture earlier had been foreshadowing this—a message from him.
Yu In hesitated. Should she ignore the man who’d only added to her confusion and irritation—or should she let her wine-fueled, unreal courage chase down the answers to her growing questions?
Her friends kept arguing, and her own rational judgment was fading fast. Perhaps that’s why her decision came quickly.
When Yu In pushed her chair back with a soft scrape and stood up, her friends—mid-fight and flushed with anger—immediately stopped shouting.
“Yu In-ah?”
“I’m going to the restroom. You two better have made up by the time I get back.”
Giving them a stern look—as if warning them—she left the table.
The moment she stood, her head spun, dizziness and fogginess washing over her.
Seeing her stagger as soon as she stepped onto the thick carpet, Jae Hee asked, “Want me to go with you?”—but Yu In just waved her hand dismissively behind her.
As she pinched her cheeks with both hands to clear her head and slowly made her way toward the entrance, her arm was suddenly seized and yanked sharply into a nearby space.
“Ah!”
When she opened her eyes—startled and blinking—she saw a familiar room interior and the crisp white shirt with a vest-clad chest she’d seen before, followed by the soft click of a door closing.
Before she could even process what was happening, her back hit the wall, and the face of the man who’d practically kidnapped her right from the middle of a famous hotel restaurant loomed extremely close.
“…Director.”
At her whisper-soft voice, the self-assured “kidnapper” looked as if he might smile, then parted his smooth lips.
“Nam Yu In, drunk again.”
His voice was deep, calm, and rich—completely different from the fresh, tidy impression he’d given earlier at her table.
Perhaps it was the wine, but Yu In forgot everything she’d meant to say; her throat burned, and she bit her lips, swallowing hard.
“You just used informal speech again.”
“I know.”
“Then why do it?”
“Am I not allowed to?”
His calm, still eyes—gleaming with pure black intensity—sealed her words shut.
Trapped between the man, whose breath she could feel, and the wall, Yu In could only chew on her lips.
Then, instead of an answer she couldn’t think of, she pressed firmly against his shoulder and pushed. Ki Yeon gave a soft chuckle and obediently stepped back.
“If you can’t hold your liquor, why drink so much?”
“I didn’t drink that much.”
Her cheeks—still flushed like perfectly ripened peaches—were pressed firmly by her palms as she grumbled sulkily.
“But… is it okay to just barge in here like this?”
“It’s fine as long as you’re with me.”
“So… you were having dinner here?”
“No, not exactly.”
Yu In waited for him to continue, but Ki Yeon only kept his eyes fixed on her reddened eyes, saying nothing more.
Unable to withstand his steady, unwavering gaze, Yu In looked away first—prompting him to exhale a breath like a sigh and tilt his head slightly.
“Earlier… was that on purpose?”
“What?”
“Pretending not to see me in the lobby.”
His words made it clear that alcohol had loosened not just her courage but her honesty, too—Yu In’s soft eyes drooped dejectedly, unable to hide her disappointment.
Just as Ki Yeon, slightly surprised by her unexpected reaction, was about to ask why, he heard her mutter softly.
“I didn’t want to make the person you were with uncomfortable.”
“What? Who—ah.”
Ki Yeon stepped back a pace, looking utterly baffled—then burst into loud laughter.

He kept laughing for a long while, unable to stop even as Yu In’s bewildered expression turned into offended displeasure—only ceasing when she finally whined, “Why are you laughing?”
“We’re not like that. That person is my friend’s fiancée.”
“…”
“We’d planned to meet as a group because I needed a favor, but my friend got busy and stood me up. I was on my way out when I saw you, Ms. Yu In.”
As Ki Yeon’s explanation—still laced with amusement—continued, Yu In’s already pink face flushed an even deeper red.
Unable to bear the embarrassment, she bit her lower lip hard enough to draw blood and lowered her head deeply.
Ki Yeon tapped her crimson crown playfully.
“Misunderstanding cleared now?”
Yu In didn’t respond—she just wanted to vanish from this place altogether.
She couldn’t shake the regret of having spoken unnecessarily. She couldn’t even recall the last time she’d been laughed at so openly—but she was certain she’d never felt this humiliated before.
Seeing Yu In bow her head in shame, Ki Yeon chuckled softly and called out, “Ms. Yu In.”
When she didn’t answer, he called again—“Nam Yu In”—and she reluctantly lifted her face.
Ki Yeon broke into an helpless smile at the sight of her—cheeks, eyes, even lips, all deeply flushed.
There was an inexplicable hesitation in that smile, so this time, Yu In didn’t look away but met his gaze directly.
But before she could read anything in his eyes, he wiped the expression clean as if rinsed by water and spoke.
“Have you thought about what I said?”
“…About what?”
“The part where I said it was your fault, Ms. Yu In.”
Yu In’s gentle, moist eyes rolled slightly.
A few seconds later, when she let out a small “Ah,” Ki Yeon—who’d already discerned her meaning from that single sound—teased her with a smirk.
“Already forgotten?”
“I haven’t… thought about it. Weren’t you just saying that casually?”
“Why would I say something like that casually? I’m not that idle. Hasn’t Nam Yu Jin told you anything?”
Her sister had said countless things—but mostly insults—so Yu In simply lowered her long lashes and clamped her lips shut.
Ki Yeon let a faint smile bloom at the corner of his mouth as he gently brushed aside a stray lock of hair near her temple.
“Start thinking about it seriously from today. Understand?”
“…Yes.”
Watching his fingers touch her briefly then withdraw, Yu In nodded obediently like a well-behaved student.
Satisfied with her answer, Ki Yeon grinned contentedly.
Then, as naturally as if it belonged there, his hands rested lightly on both her shoulders from behind.
“I’d love to take you home, but your friend back there will be waiting with fire in her eyes—so I’ll let you go today.”
“Fire in her eyes? Who, Ji Han?”
“Ah. So that friend’s Ji Han?”
Yu In eyed him suspiciously over her shoulder—the way he’d said Ji Han’s name sounded as if he already knew her.
“…Do you know Ji Han?”
“No. How would I know Ms. Yu In’s friends?”
Before she could press further, his shamelessly casual reply was cut short as Ki Yeon reached out and slid the door open.
Just before stepping into the restaurant corridor, Yu In felt warm breath brush against her ear, lips pressing close—making her neck stiffen instantly.
“If I don’t contact you, you’ll reach out to me. That’s fine too.”
The voice, slipping through her ear and curling into her eardrum, made every hair on her neck stand on end.
The man patted the shoulder he’d been holding—as if in encouragement—then released her.
When she spun around swiftly, she caught sight of a dazzlingly charming dimple sinking deeply into Ki Yeon’s cheek as he walked out the entrance.
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
