In a split second, her body was shoved backward, and a broad back blocked her view. Lily, who had been about to scream in surprise, widened her eyes instead of crying out as a familiar scent reached her.

“Dillon…?”

She knew his real name, yet this name slipped out instinctively because it still felt more familiar. Perhaps because she hadn’t called him by his true name, Harold gave no response. Instead, the man who had kindly comforted Lily earlier asked,

“I understand Dillon is the name of your aide and the man recently granted the title of baron… Am I mistaken, Earl Brayden?”

Again, Harold remained silent. Lily couldn’t see his face from her angle, so she couldn’t tell his expression—but she sensed the atmosphere had turned tense.

The man shrugged and continued,

“It’s been a while since we last met. Are you going to keep glaring at me like that? Is that the courtesy you show the Imperial Family?”

At the mention of the Imperial Family, Harold sighed softly, placed a hand over his chest, and bowed formally.

“It’s been a long time, Your Highness, Second Imperial Prince.”

That man… is a prince?

Hearing it with her own ears yet still finding it unbelievable, Lily stared at him with dazed eyes. The man scratched his cheek with an awkward smile—confirming it.

“I—I greet Your Imperial Highness.”

Lily bowed so hastily that her loosely worn shoe nearly slipped off. Though her posture was utterly disheveled from sheer fluster, the Second Prince said nothing.

“I apologize for not revealing myself earlier, my lady.”

His polite apology only made her more flustered. Just as Lily was about to say it was fine and that he needn’t apologize, Harold grabbed her arm again and pulled her behind him.
