If it weren’t a mutual divorce, a trial would be required, so divorce applications were filed at the courthouse—but the final decision on divorce was issued by the temple.

“The result will come out in about a week.”

The lawyer, who had followed her all the way to where her carriage was waiting, kindly explained.

Her voice trembled with joy. Harold gently brushed away the dampness gathering at the corners of her eyes with his thumb and replied,

“If you’re asking when I returned to the capital, it was this morning. If you’re asking when I arrived here, it was about an hour ago. I started heading straight to where you were, but I thought that might draw too much attention, so I waited here instead.”

“You did well.”

If Harold had shown up earlier, he would’ve seen Frederick spouting nonsense, and that might have led to a huge fight—so Lily sincerely felt relieved.
