Earl Stacy also apologized to Lily as soon as he saw her, and once again, Lily accepted his apology plainly. It was only possible because she had no real intention of genuinely accepting it.

Then, they moved on to business matters. Like the Earl Valiman’s household, the Earl Stacy’s household was also seeking someone who knew the Garta tongue to expand their business into the Kingdom of Hertha.

“People who speak Garta well are rare, so I was worrying about how to find one—thankfully, you can do it.”

“Indeed. Perhaps this is fate?”

The Earl and Countess Stacy exchanged insincere pleasantries, seemingly trying to win her favor, but Lily merely skimmed the contract, letting their words go in one ear and out the other.

Even when the Countess left the study at the urgent call of the elderly steward, Lily didn’t spare her a glance, remaining focused entirely on the contract.

The compensation offered matched what Countess Valiman had given, and there seemed to be no other unfavorable terms for her in the agreement.

Yet, she remained cautious. There might be hidden traps she wasn’t aware of, so Lily didn’t sign immediately.

“I’d like to add one more condition—would that be possible?”

There was, in fact, a condition she absolutely needed to include.

“Go ahead. Tell me—what condition would you like to add?”

“Do you happen to know that my husband, Frederick Benjamin, runs a transport guild?”

Earl Stacy, who instantly understood what Lily wanted to add, asked in return.

“You aren’t asking us to sign a transport contract with Viscount Benjamin’s guild, are you?”

“Is it possible?”
