The capital’s train station was bustling with people from early in the morning. They had all come to see the Hertha Kingdom’s delegation.

“I heard the princess of Hertha is coming in person. Is it true?”

“Yes, it’s true! My friend works as a station attendant at Madikan Station and saw the princess board the train himself!”

“Goodness! So it’s true after all! That means the rumor that Princess Hertha came to the empire to personally choose her consort between Second Prince and Earl Brayden must also be true!”

Yet, not a single person made a sound. Everyone held their breath, watching silently as the two figures walked through the parted crowd and stopped before the first-class compartment.

“…It’s been a while since I last saw you, Your Highness.”

Since Darius held the higher rank, Harold reluctantly offered a respectful bow. The prince acknowledged it with a slight nod, tilting his head just a bit. His eyes sparkled like those of a hunter who had just spotted intriguing prey.

“I didn’t expect to see you here, Earl Brayden.”

Though both his gaze and words were unsettling, Harold paid no mind. The prince’s odd behavior was nothing new, and more importantly, Harold’s mind was entirely occupied with thoughts of finding Liliana Benjamin, leaving him no room for other concerns.

Another reason Harold didn’t respond was that the compartment door had just opened. Naturally, the prince’s attention shifted toward the woman stepping off the train. The hem of her blue dress rippled softly with each movement.

So that woman is Princess Hertha. That was the entirety of Harold’s impression. He offered no further evaluation of her appearance or presence, merely bowing politely as one would to foreign royalty before stepping back.

“My name is Darius Kaman Andreas.”
