Harold, covered head to toe in dust from riding his horse in haste, washed thoroughly and changed clothes before returning to Lily’s side. He didn’t merely watch over her—he personally attended to her, wiping away her cold sweat with a warm cloth and moistening her parched lips.

That alone was astonishing enough, but what truly stunned everyone was the way Harold administered medicine to Lily.

Even after giving her fever-reducing medicine, her fever refused to subside and instead blossomed into fever spots, prompting the physician to prepare a stronger remedy and bring it over.

The problem was how to get this medicine into Lily, who lay unconscious. No matter how carefully they tried pouring it between her lips with a spoon, she barely swallowed any—it just leaked back out. The medicine happened to be a deep red liquid, making it look as though she were coughing up blood, and Harold’s eyes narrowed in distress.

“Although it’s not ideal to forcibly rouse her consciousness, if we leave her like this, things could get much worse. We have no choice but to wake the lady.”

Upon hearing the physician’s decision, Harold glanced down at Lily, who kept releasing breaths laden with pain, then asked:

“If there’s a way to give her the fever medicine without her being conscious, would we really need to wake her?”

“It would indeed be best if we could administer the medicine without disturbing the lady… but do you have such a method?”

Instead of answering, Harold simply picked up the medicine bottle placed on the nightstand. The physician, bewildered, watched as the earl downed the entire dose in one gulp—and gasped.

“W-why would you, my lord…!”

As the physician moved to stop Harold, Dillon, who had been quietly observing from behind, gently grabbed his arm.

“Just out of curiosity—if a healthy person took that medicine, would anything bad happen?”

“Huh? Oh, no, it’s not that… It’s just that this fever remedy is extremely bitter…”

“Ah, that’s fine then. As long as it doesn’t kill me.”

At Harold’s chilling remark about possibly dying from it, the physician’s face turned even paler.
