My Husband's Scandal (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Yoon’s engagement ceremony, which had been nothing but painful and distressing for her, was finally over somehow.
“Chairman Cha, we are now family. Heh heh heh.”
“It’s truly an honor to become in-laws with Congressman Seo. Heh heh heh.”
Chairman Cha pretended to be thoroughly pleased in front of Ji Man, but deep down, he was irritated by Yoon and felt queasy inside.
If she’d been Yoo Hyun’s match, he might have grudgingly accepted her, but as a spouse for Kang Hyun, she fell far short.
“No matter how you look at it, sending someone like that—a half-baked match—into my house? He must think I’m a fool! Hah!”
Chairman Cha ground his teeth inwardly. Kang Hyun might be acting as if he were just an actor now, but he was a young man destined for great things—more than enough to fill even the largest role.
Though Seo Ji Man was undoubtedly a major power in politics, politics itself was like walking on thin ice—it was impossible to know when one might suddenly plummet.
Even if she were Ji Man’s trueborn child, he could have rejected her outright, but an illegitimate child? That was why Chairman Cha’s gaze toward Yoon remained icy cold.
“Kang Hyun surely doesn’t intend to spend his whole life with someone like her. Once we get what we need from Congressman Seo, we’ll arrange a divorce at the right time.”
“Our new daughter-in-law looks utterly well-mannered—I’m very pleased indeed. Heh heh heh!”
Despite his true feelings, Chairman Cha spoke as if he were completely satisfied.
“Having Korea’s top actor as my son-in-law—I’m very pleased as well. Heh heh heh!”
Chairman Cha and Ji Man looked at each other and burst into hearty laughter once again. Watching them, Kang Hyun clicked his tongue inwardly.
“Actors, both of you.”
“I have a schedule to keep, so I’ll leave first. I’ll see you at the wedding.”
Kang Hyun bowed slightly and walked away without even glancing back. Seeing this, Seo Jung’s face instantly crumpled.
“How dare that impudent brat leave before the elders, just because he’s ‘busy’? Hah!”
On the other hand, Yoo Jin felt somewhat appeased by Kang Hyun’s attitude.
“Oppa Kang Hyun clearly hates you. Well, of course—he’s being forced to marry some illegitimate child. Good luck handling things alone from now on.”
Yoo Jin whispered mockingly into Yoon’s ear. Only then did Yoon finally look at Yoo Jin, whom she hadn’t seen in ten years. Earlier, Yoo Jin had been too agitated for Yoon to get a proper look.
Even in childhood memories, Yoo Jin had seemed as huge as a mountain—and she still did. Though Yoon wasn’t particularly short, Yoo Jin appeared to be at least ten centimeters taller.
Moreover, Yoo Jin’s build was sturdier than most men’s. Up close, she looked even more intimidating. Back when they lived in Seongbuk-dong, Yoon had suffered greatly at Yoo Jin’s hands.
Every time Yoo Jin grabbed her by the collar and shook her, Yoon felt so dizzy and frightened her legs would go numb. Looking back now, it seemed she’d been little more than a punching bag.
“Stop being stubborn and move back into the house until the wedding.”
Seo Jung insisted Yoon stay at their Seongbuk-dong home until the wedding day—perhaps worried she might run away, though the idea was absurd.
“…I’d rather not.”
Yoon glanced sideways at Yoo Jin before speaking.
“You know people are watching.”
Yoon, whose hands had been trembling ever since seeing Yoo Jin, took a slow, deep breath.
“…I’ll stay quiet until the wedding.”
“If any trouble arises, you’ll be the one held responsible—understood?”
“Yes.”
After watching the two of them impassively, Ji Man turned and walked away first.
Even after meeting his daughter for the first time in ten years, he’d merely glanced at her like an object and muttered a single, indifferent “Not bad.” Yet Yoon was almost grateful for Ji Man’s lack of interest.
Soon after, Seo Jung and her daughters followed Ji Man and disappeared as well. Left alone, Yoon took off her dress and handed it back to the staff, then changed into her own clothes.
As she shed the expensive accessories and high-end gown, she finally felt a sense of freedom. Lightened, Yoon slipped quietly out of the engagement venue.
Since the hotel sat halfway up a mountain, she considered hailing a taxi—but decided instead to walk down, hoping the fresh air might clear her dizzy head.
Meanwhile, Kang Hyun, driving downhill, had pulled over briefly to check an email from Woo Jin when he spotted Yoon and rolled down his window.
“Seo Yoon!”
Lost in thought, Yoon turned at the sound of her name—and jumped in surprise upon realizing it was Kang Hyun.
Seeing her reaction, Kang Hyun lowered the window further and scanned her up and down.
“Yeah, it’s you.”
At first, he hadn’t been sure—she was dressed in jeans and a T-shirt—but her hairstyle instantly gave her away.
It was the exact same bridal updo from the ceremony, utterly clashing with her casual outfit. No matter how he looked at it, the mismatch was extreme.
“They left you alone halfway up a mountain? Even if they hate you, that’s pretty harsh. Cold-hearted.”
Kang Hyun opened the car door and stepped out, unfolding his long legs like a scene straight from an advertisement. Yoon stared at him blankly, mesmerized.
“Stop gawking and get in the car.”
Yoon flushed at Kang Hyun’s words.
“Huh? No, I just wanted to walk a bit—”
Trending
“It might look close, but walking down will take ages.”
He opened the passenger door and took her arm. Yoon flinched.
‘That scent…’
She hadn’t noticed it during the whole engagement ceremony, but now the memory flooded back.
It was the same fragrance from the handkerchief he’d given her ten years ago—a nostalgic scent that had lingered untouched somewhere in her memory. Instinctively, she leaned closer into his arm.
“What are you doing?”
Kang Hyun’s voice snapped her back to reality.
“I asked what you’re doing?”
Yoon stammered mid-sentence. Only then did she realize her face was almost pressed against his arm. Startled, she quickly pulled away.
“Perfume? You really know men’s fragrances, huh? Did your ex-boyfriend wear this one? You were practically sniffing my arm like you’re reliving some sweet memory.”
Kang Hyun let out a disbelieving chuckle at the sight of Yoon smelling his arm. Embarrassed, Yoon hastily climbed into his car.
“Just drop me off in Seongbuk-dong, okay?”
He asked as she got in, apparently assuming she still lived at the Seongbuk-dong house.
“Ah… sure.”
Yoon mumbled, unsure how to even begin explaining her situation.
“Do I have to buckle your seatbelt too?”
“No, I’m fine.”
Yoon quickly fastened her belt while stealing glances at him.
Kang Hyun stared at her for a moment, then said nothing more and started driving. Yoon stayed silent too, gazing blankly out the window.
The car was filled entirely with his scent. Breathing it in, her mind grew calm, and the tension that had gripped her body all day began to fade.
She even started feeling drowsy—as if the smell triggered some reflex from childhood, when she used to fall asleep to this same fragrance.
‘Should I ask him the name of that perfume? Spraying it in my room might help me sleep better.’
Then she caught sight of Kang Hyun’s reflection in the window. Even his driving looked effortlessly cool.
At the engagement, he’d exuded a neat, classic vibe—but now, with his tie off and a few shirt buttons undone, he gave off a more rugged, untamed aura.
His well-toned muscles, honed by exercise, looked as if they might tear through his fitted dress shirt.
“If you’re going to stare, don’t sneak glances—just look straight at me.”
“Huh?”
Yoon was startled by his comment.
“Could it be—you’re a fan of mine too?”
He stared directly at her, as if trying to read her mind.
“No, I’m not.”
Yoon quickly shook her head.
“Seems more like you are. Sniffing my scent like that… Seriously, you’re the first person I’ve ever met who does that so openly. Are you some kind of weirdo?”
His eyes narrowed as he studied her.
“I’m not!”
“Not even a fan?”
“N-no, I’m not.”
Yoon actually had been his fan, but since their meeting, she’d been trying hard to quit.
“Good, then.”
“Why’s that good?”
“Just don’t like you.”
“Because we’re getting divorced anyway?”
Kang Hyun stared silently at her for a moment after she spoke.
“Yeah, exactly. So until then, let’s stay cool with each other—got it?”
“Yes.”
Yoon nodded, since that was exactly what she wanted too. Watching her indifferent reaction, Kang Hyun suddenly grew curious.
“Was it really you who asked to get married?”
She seemed completely different from what he’d heard, and he was confused.
“Me?”
Yoon stared at him, baffled—it wasn’t as if anyone would actually want this sham marriage.

Seeing her dumbfounded expression, Kang Hyun turned his eyes back to the road. Though he usually had a good eye for people, Seo Yoon remained hard to read.
She didn’t match what he’d heard—but then again, maybe this was just another act.
“Anyway, the wedding’s next month, so move your stuff into my place before then. Give me your number.”
Kang Hyun handed her his phone, and Yoon entered her number.
“I’ll call you when I have time—bring your things then.”
“Okay.”
Her “stuff” amounted to little more than a few changes of clothes. Since it was vacation, she figured just bringing comfortable home clothes and a few civil service exam books would be enough.
‘Ugh… I have to live with this guy for three years?’
Just thinking about sharing a house with Kang Hyun already exhausted Yoon.
“Did you graduate from the College of Education?”
“Yes.”
“Which school are you at?”
“Sura High School.”
‘Wait—didn’t Kyung Ho say she was unemployed?’
Kyung Ho had missed the engagement ceremony due to a business trip to the U.S. Kang Hyun briefly considered looking into Yoon himself.
‘Whatever. It’ll end in three years anyway—just coast through it.’
Lost in thought, Kang Hyun turned to glance at Yoon.
She’d been staring out the window moments earlier but was now nodding off under the early summer sunlight streaming through the glass.
‘What is this girl’s deal?’
He couldn’t help but chuckle in disbelief.
‘A woman falling asleep in my car…’
Annoyed, Kang Hyun almost woke her—but then remembered how tense she’d looked throughout the ceremony, as if she might collapse any second, so he let her sleep.
She’d already sunk into deep slumber; not even a muscle twitched.
“Sleep well. Must be nice.”
Kang Hyun clicked his tongue as he watched her sleep. Yet something about her sleeping face looked pitiful, so he drove more carefully.
‘Great—Cha Kang Hyun’s playing chauffeur now.’
He snorted a quiet laugh.
A short while later, Kang Hyun’s car arrived in front of Seo Ji Man’s house in Seongbuk-dong.
“Wake up now.”
He gently shook Yoon, who was still lost in sweet dreams.
“Oh!”
She startled awake. She didn’t even recall falling asleep, but they’d already arrived.
Noticing Kang Hyun’s sharp gaze on her, she hurriedly gathered her bag.
“Thank you.”
“Do I look like your personal driver?”
Kang Hyun grumbled, exasperated.
“Sorry.”
“Fine—just get out already.”
“Okay.”
Yoon deliberately avoided his eyes as she quickly stepped out of the car. The moment she closed the door, Kang Hyun sped off without hesitation.
As soon as his car vanished into the distance, Yoon turned and hurried away. The instant she’d glimpsed the Seongbuk-dong house before getting out, goosebumps had erupted all over her body.
‘Get lost!’
‘Shut up!’
‘Don’t even look at me!’
It felt as if the gates of hell were opening wide to swallow her. Yoon quickened her pace.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
