My Husband's Cinderella (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 73
Certain emphasized words reached my ears before the awkward form of address did.
‘……So it was Lady Winter who said it.’
Should I have given her another handful of chocolate? Or perhaps some candy?
‘I did expect it, though.’
I had no intention of blaming Winter. After all, choosing Coon over Chloe was perfectly reasonable.
“Mischievous? I was only worried His Majesty might be concerned…”
“So you’re going to claim you deliberately made it a secret out of worry for His Majesty?”
Chloe, who had been diligently preparing her defense, helplessly closed her mouth—the following sentence had sealed off any possibility of retreat.
“……It concerns Jane.”
In the end, she had no choice but to tell the truth.
She could have just said it from the beginning, but she’d deliberately stayed silent, fearing precisely this situation.
After all, His Majesty was already so busy—what if he came out personally to greet them?
“I was thinking the same thing anyway.”
“……Then why ask me as if you suspected I was hiding something or involved with a man?”
“Because I can’t be certain.”

Xin Jiao Zhou is the leader of the world’s premier sect. She has just experienced betrayal from all sides, was poisoned in an assassination attempt, and faced death squad attacks while the poison was taking effect. After finally clearing out the scum from her sect, she was drugged again while trying to detoxify.
After waking up from a night of unconsciousness, she gained a “beautiful and kind-hearted” husband.
Xin Jiao Zhou: “???”
He fell ill.
She came to see him, bringing breakfast.
As she put down the breakfast and was about to leave, his hand slipped while holding the spoon. “Clank!”
She turned around upon hearing the noise.
He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.
A certain someone when disciplining subordinates behind the scenes: “If they don’t obey, just kill them.”
What’s that? She might already have someone she cares about in her heart? A certain someone: Find out who it is, kill them, and then there won’t be anyone.
What? She met a man by the riverside? What? That man even hurt her? A certain someone: Whichever hand hurt her, chop off his entire arm.

Wow, she really has no clue what personal accountability is. Nor does she have any self-awareness.
Lol, what a ridiculously mysterious way of stating when the appointment time is. Although, I did get the impression the guy is a sorcerer or magician of some sort. Did he implant those thoughts into Helena’s mind during the trial?
It seems to me that Kalis was not as attached to Helena as I had previously thought. He behaved as if utterly devoted to her initially. Did he even really mourn her death? He tossed her and their unborn child aside quite cruelly. I was surprised he behaved that way towards their child and Helena considering all he sacrificed to keep Helena in his life and at the estate. Perhaps he did not consider what he lost as a sacrifice but as things that were stolen from him by Chloe and now, the emperor. Helena too did not comprehend personal accountability nor being responsible for one’s own actions. Those two shared quite a few undesirable traits. The most surprising one being how entitled they behaved considering their stations.
