My Husband's Cinderella (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Chloe patted her slightly full stomach as she stepped out of the cake shop.
That place was no ordinary eatery. Indeed, there was always a reason crowds gathered.
Once out on the street, Chloe soon unfolded the map she’d received from the shop.
Being the capital village, there was truly much to see and do. She longed to try everything one by one, but the tight schedule was a drawback.
‘Perhaps I should secure a carriage first.’
She might lose track of time while enjoying herself and miss the chance to book a carriage. To avoid such misfortune, Chloe decided to reserve one right away.
As she followed the route indicated on the map, a faint fishy odor slowly crept up. Mixed with a damp, briny smell, it seemed she had arrived at her destination.
Entering the stable, Chloe approached a man sitting before the fence.
The man, who had been chewing straw, spat out the remnants from his mouth and asked,
“What brings you here?”
“I’d like to hire a carriage.”
“Where are you headed?”
“To the North.”
“We don’t usually go that far—it’s mostly for tourists.”
The man shook his head and refused.
It would take several days to reach the North. Rather than endure such hardship, it was far more efficient to target the tourists already here.
Chloe briefly glanced behind her. She spotted a fairly large carriage and several healthy-looking young horses.
“I can pay you any fare you ask.”
“How much would you offer?”
The man quickly sized up Chloe’s appearance and asked indifferently.
Though her face and gestures radiated grace, her attire was far from impressive. At best, she’d probably hand over the base price plus a few extra coins.
“Would ten gold coins suffice?”
“Ten? Did you say ten coins?”
Chloe nodded at the man, who looked startled by her offer. Immediately, a bright smile bloomed across his face.
“Of course, absolutely! Which carriage shall I prepare for you? No—let me bring you the finest carriage and horse.”
“Thank you.”
“Oh, but payment must be made in advance. Lately, there’ve been so many scoundrels running off without paying. Not that I suspect you, of course! It’s just a precaution, if you don’t mind.”
The man chuckled softly and bowed.
To reassure him, Chloe immediately rummaged through the pocket of her dress.
‘Huh?’
But her wallet was missing. She checked the other pocket and her bag too, yet the wallet was nowhere to be seen.
‘Where could it have gone?’
Chloe began retracing when she last used her wallet.
She’d paid the coachman, then paid again at the cake shop. That was all…
‘Surely not!’
In a flash, she recalled the boy who’d bumped into her on the terrace.
A small boy who’d fled in a panic without even an apology!
Pickpocketing was common in the capital—it seemed Chloe had become its latest victim.
“What’s wrong?”
As payment failed to materialize, the man’s demeanor changed abruptly. His earlier obsequiousness vanished, replaced by the roughness of a street thug.
“Th-that is…”
“So you opened your wallet and found no money, eh?”
To be precise, she had no wallet at all.
His glaring eyes frightened her terribly. She had no intention of skipping payment, yet he stared at her as if she did.
“I’ll pay you two gold coins upon arrival, I promise.”
“Standing here in the stable yard as if you still have money—how am I supposed to believe you?”
The man snorted dismissively. Chloe decided to give up persuasion right then. Continuing this might lead to the worst-case scenario—being seized by guards.
‘My plans are ruined.’
A deep sigh escaped her lips. Without money, she couldn’t take a carriage, let alone tour the village.
“Ahem. Ahem.”
Trending
Just then, the man cleared his throat repeatedly. Chloe shifted her gaze toward him, as if he were demanding her attention.
“In a hurry for a carriage?”
Was he finally willing to trust her words? Chloe gave a slight nod.
“I can’t just leave a lady in distress… I’ll lend you my carriage this once. But on one condition…”
The man, his eyes half-lidded, stared intently at Chloe.
Though dressed plainly, his face was quite handsome. His striking beauty seemed capable of making many men weep.
Money could always be earned again, but a woman of such beauty wasn’t encountered every day.
“I’d like you to keep me company during the ride so I won’t be bored.”
“…Company?”
“It would be an even greater honor if you entertained me in other ways.”
He pulled Chloe’s arm tightly toward himself, practically trapping her in his embrace, then whispered into her small ear.
Other ways.
Though the subject was vague, its implication was unmistakable.
“Wh-what!”
Horrified, Chloe shook her head vigorously. She tried to pull away quickly, but his arm held her far too firmly.
“Let go of me!”
“Why so upset? You’re in a hurry, aren’t you? Sometimes you’ve got to settle things like this.”
His hot breath crawling into her ear was repulsive. His lustful touch, filled with desire for her, felt utterly vile.
“Oh, Chloe.”
Just then, someone called out Chloe’s name.
By the time she managed to look, an unfamiliar man stood before her.
Before she could discern who he was, he grabbed her arm and pulled her toward himself.
The coachman’s strong grip, which had seemed impossible to break, loosened instantly. In a moment, Chloe found herself nestled in the arms of this new man.
‘Who on earth is he?’
His voice was unfamiliar, his face unknown—yet he acted as though he knew her well.
At least he didn’t seem intent on harming her—that was some comfort.
Unlike that rogue, this man respected Chloe. The proof lay in his firm yet gentle hold.
“There you are. I’ve been looking all over for you, Chloe.”
His lips nearly brushed her ear. Thus, his breath and voice boldly invaded her ear.
“I’ll cover the carriage fare.”
His voice dripped with contempt as he addressed the coachman. After glaring at him as if ready to kill, he practically threw the gold coins at him.
“Yes, yes…! What time should I be ready to pick you up?”
“After the sun has fully set, at the clock tower. Bring someone else—not you.”
He clearly had no desire to exchange even a word with the coachman. Giving a perfunctory reply, he immediately led Chloe away.
Seeing him pay the fare so casually, they must share a deep connection of some sort.
‘So… who exactly is this man?’
Chloe couldn’t even begin to guess his identity.
“Yes, that’s my wallet.”
In the man’s hand was Chloe’s lost wallet.
After receiving it back, Chloe stared fixedly at him. At her questioning expression, he smiled faintly.
“I found it on the street. Since it even had a photo, I figured it must be important. I came all the way here trying to find its owner.”
According to him, he’d discovered the wallet abandoned by the roadside.
Though it had been lying there, it showed little wear—likely discarded only moments before.
Convinced he could locate the owner, he’d tracked down Chloe using just her first name and the worn photograph.
“How can I ever repay such kindness…?”
Chloe was utterly astonished by his extraordinary generosity. To spend time and energy searching for a complete stranger!
“No need to repay me. I merely did what anyone would.”
“But still…”
Come to think of it, hadn’t he also paid her carriage fare?
She hurriedly opened her wallet, intending to return the money now that she’d recovered it.

‘Ah.’
An empty wallet greeted her.
Upon reflection, that wretched pickpocket must have stolen all the money before discarding it. Of course there’d be nothing left.
She heard the man’s soft laughter from across. He seemed to understand the situation upon seeing her frozen expression.
“It’s truly fine. More importantly, you seem to be traveling.”
“Yes. I was just taking a brief look around the capital to clear my mind.”
“If it’s not too bold of me, may I offer to guide you? After that ordeal, you probably couldn’t enjoy your sightseeing properly.”
“Huh?”
“I’d feel much better if I could make it up to you.”
Ironically, though she was the one receiving kindness, it was he who now pleaded.
“Well…”
Chloe hesitated, trailing off uncertainly.
Accepting his offer outright felt deeply unsettling. What if he, too, harbored impure intentions like that coachman?
“Alright. But first, I’d at least like to know the name of my benefactor.”
Yet, for some inexplicable reason, Chloe’s heart boldly voiced agreement.
At her friendly inquiry, the man smiled again.
“Coon.”
“…”
“Coon, Lady Chloe.”

Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
