“Are you close to Duke Ertman, Your Highness?”
Odette turned her body toward the voice that had spoken beside her.
In a lounge room inside the banquet hall, Elodie had asked the question as soon as they were alone.
‘Is she asking on purpose because of the rumors?’
Odette felt a flicker of suspicion, but Elodie’s tone seemed free of malice.
After all, Elodie had been following Odette simply out of gratitude for her help.
And Odette’s own discomfort with Elodie was somewhat personal and one-sided.
‘I shouldn’t show it unnecessarily. She might just be a clumsy but good person.’
So she answered kindly.
“I’m not particularly close to him. It’s just coincidence that I’ve gotten tangled up in rumors, but there’s certainly no friendship worth boasting about.”
“I see! I asked because I’d heard such rumors, but I had a feeling it probably wasn’t true.”
“…What do you mean by that?”
At Odette’s suspicious reply, Elodie prattled on while fixing her makeup.
“I’m staying at the Ertman Ducal Mansion, you see? Naturally, I overhear certain stories.”
“So you’ve heard stories about me, then?”

One-line summary: The female lead is actually cold-hearted and extremely rational. She has stage-by-stage relationships and won’t two-time, but there will always be someone who secretly likes her.

But wouldn’t it be the perfect time to speak with Xavier in a safe manner? There are plenty of people around and she needs information from him.
He isn’t suspicious of Duke Ertman? Considering the rumors the Duke amplified, he has motive to drive a wedge between Louis and Odette. Yet Louie doesn’t question Walter’s words? I’d think he’d be suspicious of Walter casting the curse. Walter’s motive for doing so might be unknown but his words, seemingly knowledgeable about the curse itself and blaming it upon Odette, whom the Duke has insinuated a relationship with while Odette says otherwise, gives plenty to be wary about.
Is this woman serious saying ‘I lied to them, why won’t they believe me?’ Wow she seems a bit delusional.
