Mother-in-Law Refuses to Regress! (7 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 15
Siod emerged into the human realm and found Rodante loitering near the mansion. Having sealed his own magic power out of fear of being discovered by Guinevere, he had no way to cross the barrier laid around the estate.
With no other choice, he could only wait endlessly for his target to step outside the mansion. During that time, Siod learned that Guinevere had given birth to a son, whose name was William.
Another unusual detail was that Guinevere had recently taken in a little girl, but had not formally registered her in the family registry—only listing herself as the girl’s legal guardian.
Taking in a single child was nothing extraordinary, but the timing was peculiar: it happened right after the time regression.
‘Who is that girl?’
She didn’t seem to be taken on as a disciple, nor did she resemble an illegitimate child born during that period. While pondering this mystery, Guinevere left the mansion with her son. Siod quietly followed from behind.
Their carriage crossed the city and entered the academy grounds. Since all eyes were fixed on the carriage bearing the Rodante crest, Siod slipped into the crowd unnoticed.
Worried that getting too close might reveal his identity to Guinevere, he deliberately stayed at a distance. His goal today wasn’t Guinevere herself, but merely to confirm the existence of her son, so he was content to calmly observe from afar.
From the murmurs around him, he gathered that William Rodante had come not to take the Magic Department examination, but the Knight Department’s. Though this surprised him, Siod thought it was for the best.
If William Rodante enrolled in the academy, he could approach him without Guinevere’s knowledge and extract an oath from him.
But his optimism was mistaken.
“Next!”
William Rodante slowly stepped forward into the training yard. The moment Siod laid eyes on him, his heart sank as if dropping into his stomach.
It was draconic magic.
He’d assumed it resembled Guinevere’s magic, but it was even more akin to the primal essence of nature itself. As he drew closer, it became unmistakable: only a dragon could possess magic so intrinsically bound to nature. Entranced, Siod fixed his gaze upon William.
His face was Guinevere’s spitting image, his hair the same raven black as hers, and his eyes… were silver-gray—just like his own. That alone stirred strange feelings within him.
“William Rodante, why have you chosen the Knight Department instead of the Magic Department?”
At his sparring partner’s question, William’s eyes darkened. Unconsciously stepping forward, Siod was halted by academy students assisting with the entrance exams and forced to retreat again.
Then William spoke.
“I can’t do magic.”
‘He can’t do magic?’
Despite sensing such immense magical power, William spoke with resignation.
“I really can’t do magic. I’ve got absolutely zero talent for it.”
Siod thought he understood why.
Fleeing the scene as though escaping, Siod began walking aimlessly.
‘Is this even possible?’
Siod was a young dragon. Born after the Dragon-Human War, he had lived only in an era when contact between dragons and humans had been severed. Thus, he’d never even heard of a child born between a human and a dragon.
The Dragon-Human War referred to the conflict between dragons and humans ten thousand years ago. Though the dragons won, Lord erased all records of the war from the human realm, treating it as if it had never happened.
He then sealed off the Dragon Valley with barriers, forbidding all passage between dragons and humans. The dragons had unanimously agreed to this decision.
Humans reproduced too rapidly, and occasionally transcendent beings like Guinevere emerged to rival the dragon race. While helpless dragons ceased breeding and faded into obsolescence, humanity’s numbers only grew.
If humans ever again began coveting dragon scales, bones, and hearts, the dragons would face extinction. Thus, dragons occasionally infiltrated human society to sabotage their progress—inciting wars or disasters to keep their numbers in check.
Siod had met Guinevere only because of Lord’s order.
‘Another transcendent has appeared in the human realm. Go investigate.’
‘Shall I eliminate her?’
‘Hmm. She’s no easy opponent. Avoid drawing attention; just spy on her. It would be best if she shows no interest in the Dragon Valley.’
Since none of the elder dragons would heed Lord’s words, Siod had been chosen. He’d entered the human realm lightly—and met Guinevere…
“Is this truly possible?”
Was it really possible for a child to be born from a dragon and a human?
Though many dragons had infiltrated human society under Lord’s orders to gather intelligence, none had ever fathered a child with a human.
Yet Siod remembered William’s silver-gray eyes and his magic—remembered his claim of being unable to use magic.
“There’s no way a human tongue can wield draconic magic.”
A hollow laugh escaped him. He couldn’t believe it. It had been just one night. That one night had resulted in a child—an impossible miracle born of dragon and human.
Siod went straight to Lord’s residence and roused the sleeping Lord.
“Is this possible?”
After hearing the explanation, Lord grunted.
“It seems it is.”
Lord’s face was grim. What clearer answer could there be? Siod was convinced.
After a moment of silence, Lord spoke quietly.
“That child is human.”
“But his magic…”
Trending
“He’s still human.”
Siod couldn’t accept it. The child had clearly inherited his magic. Though paternal affection hadn’t suddenly surged within him, this was a truth he couldn’t deny.
“He’ll live as a human and die as one. He’ll never grow wings or live beyond a brief mortal life. Don’t even think of becoming attached.”
Siod’s throat tightened.
“You were the one who kept pressuring me to have offspring! And now you say—”
“I told you to sire a dragon, not a human child!”
Siod bit his lip.
“Only eggs laid in draconic form, hatched into hatchlings, become true dragons. Children born in human form never awaken. I wouldn’t have insisted so strongly if laying eggs were easy—but our very survival depends on it.”
“…”
“The dragon race is going extinct. If the younger generation fails to lay eggs in draconic form, we’ll vanish entirely. Continuing our lineage is the duty of any species facing extinction.”
After delivering his usual lecture, Lord rubbed his temples, exasperated.
“Don’t waste time obsessing over that child. Just fulfill your assigned mission properly. You’re not going to tell me you can’t do it now, are you?”
“I can’t.”
“Then shall I take action myself?”
Siod stared at Lord. Dragons only grew stronger with age; there was no way a young dragon like him could ever defeat the ancient Lord. Gritting his teeth, Siod replied.
“All I need to do is stop the time regression, right?”
Lord sank deeper into his chair and sighed. Worn and weary compared to the vigorous, youthful Siod, he yielded grudgingly.
“That’s right.”
Hearing this, Siod immediately left Lord’s lair. He had to see Guinevere at once.
‘When I meet her…’
He’d abandoned her without even knowing she carried his child. He deserved whatever resentment she might express. Yet now, arriving like this, what could he possibly say?
Siod buried his face in his hands.

Guinevere was conducting her usual research on time regression magic when she suddenly sensed a massive surge of magical energy—an alien presence, unauthorized by her barriers, pressing close by.
She instantly wrapped both hands in magic. Though hastily gathered without proper incantation, the raw power was crude yet formidable. She swung her fist.
Thud.
An ordinary person would have been obliterated instantly—but her opponent remained unscathed.
“Long time no see.”
Guinevere froze.
“Siod.”
Standing before her was a man with hair like northern snow and silver-gray eyes—so strikingly beautiful he could be mistaken for a mortal incarnation of a god.
Without hesitation, Guinevere swung her fist again. But the man easily dodged and dispersed her magic with a flick of his hand.
“I let you hit me once, but twice is pushing it. It hurts, you know.”
Siod smiled awkwardly, weighed down by guilt—but Guinevere didn’t smile back. Coldly, she asked,
“Why have you suddenly appeared?”
Alarms blared wildly. Her wristwatch chimed with an urgent call. Ignoring both, Guinevere fixed her gaze on Siod.
“I have something to say.”
“What…”
“Shall we go somewhere quieter?”
Guinevere nodded. Standing with her back to the time regression magic orb, she pressed the chrono button on her wristwatch. Halden’s voice came through.
[Master! What’s happened?]“It’s nothing. I… just blew something up.”
[Please tell me you didn’t blow up that—that—that thing!]“No. I’ll explain later.”
Guinevere quickly ended the call and seized Siod before her. Through instantaneous teleportation, she arrived in an uninhabited forest—and immediately kicked him.
“Ugh.”
Since no magic was behind the kick, Siod simply took the blow. Even he, however, would have dodged if Guinevere had truly meant to strike.
Guinevere coldly addressed Siod, who pretended to be hurt.
“Speak. What do you have to say?”
Siod sighed.

“Before that… I have a question.”
Guinevere waited calmly.
‘Did he see it?’
She hadn’t hidden the time regression orb in time. Her haste to teleport away with this man was precisely to conceal it—but if anyone could recognize what it was in that fleeting instant, it would be him.
‘If he did see it… should I kill him?’
As Guinevere weighed this calmly, Siod caught her off guard with his question.
“Is he my child?”
It was the last question Guinevere had expected.
Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!
――
This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
