Miss Pendleton (Update to C.222 END) - Chapter 66
Sir Dalton nodded with an expressionless face.
“However, there’s a condition before that.”
“Tell me.”
“I want Sir Dalton’s sister to know about my family background. I’m currently hiding my origins in the job market. But I don’t want to deceive Sir Dalton’s sister.”
“I was planning to go straight to my sister after hearing your confirmation. I wanted to explain about Miss Pendleton to her personally. I’ll convey everything about how you became a governess.”
Miss Pendleton nodded.
“Even if your sister is reluctant after knowing my background, please don’t try to persuade her. The bond between siblings is more important than my job.”
“My sister won’t change her decision because of that fact. She has a daughter who will soon debut in society. She’ll highly value Miss Pendleton’s experience in society. I also think you’re necessary for Olivia. Please, I ask you to be a good friend to my niece Olivia.”
“Yes, of course.”
“Then, I’ll head down to Yorkshire today. I’ll write to you within a week.”
The two walked silently. Miss Pendleton felt at ease after making her decision. The die was now cast. Unless something unexpected happened, she would become the governess for two boys at Dunville Park. She would teach them the Latin and Greek she had honed so far.
Dunville Park. The place where she might be a governess for 10 years. What kind of place would it be? Anxiety and excitement alternately shook her.
“You described Dunville Park before. You said it’s spacious with an open view and well-landscaped gardens. I tried to imagine it, but I couldn’t quite picture it.”
“It’s a typical English mansion. Don’t try too hard to imagine it. Whatever you imagine, you’ll be disappointed.”
Laura chuckled.

It’s progressing a bit slowly, but nicely… I hope there won’t be unnecessary distances between them due to misunderstandings.
I think this trip to Bath will be good to Laura. Meeting these women will inspire her to be more confident. I just hope her ex and Mr. Dalton don’t ruin it.
Each chapter leaves me in suspense for the future. Although the readers are given assurance from Laura’s feelings since the carriage kiss, I can’t help but doubt the next steps for this couple! Ian’s feeling are deep and tumultuous like waves against a cliff. I can only hope that when the two finally meet, he will remain level headed.
