Miss Pendleton (Update to C.222 END) - Chapter 55
‘Could it be that Miss Pendleton has come to like me a little, just a little bit?’
As that thought occurred to him, his heart began to beat faster. He wished that Miss Pendleton would show her face to him. He wanted to see her face.
He wanted to closely observe the light in her eyes and the subtle changes in her expressions. He wanted to find even a small piece of the hope he had imagined in them.
But Miss Pendleton did not show her face to him until the song ended. When the dance finished, she separated herself from him. Naturally, her hand also slipped away from his.
“I’m a bit tired after dancing for the first time in a while. I think I’ll rest in the lounge for a moment.”
“I’ll escort you.”
“Sir Dalton should quickly reserve the next dance with the lady you have in mind. I’ll go by myself.”
Miss Pendleton avoided his eyes and hurried to go inside.
“Miss Pendleton, wait…”
He grabbed Miss Pendleton’s arm.
Miss Pendleton looked at him. He was staring at her earnestly with his pitch-black eyes. She turned her head away from him.
Just moments ago, she felt embarrassed thinking about how she had begged him to continue the waltz. She who had clung to him, not wanting to end what would be their last dance. She was afraid that her feelings might have been revealed because of this.
“Don’t avoid my eyes.”
Miss Pendleton shook her head.
“I can’t let you go like this. I’m worried about you.”

When scheming men desperately battle for her favor in the male harem

This one’s also on my reread list! The rivalry, scheming between the men in the imperial harem are just as intense and thrilling as in classic palace drama novels, where concubines fight to the death. Give it a read, girls! I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Synopsis:
“I am not worthy of her… but I still want to be by her side, even if only as a loyal dog…”
Those were the painful whispers of Yue Guanyi – the proud Crown Prince of the Great Qi, who was torn between deep love and a guilty conscience. Despite holding the supreme power of the Imperial Guard, he still could not forget the dark past when he was sold into a brothel.
Fate played a cruel twist when Qiu Shuzhi – a young female official who had just passed the imperial examinations with top honors – stepped into his life. She did not know that she was the one who had saved him from a tragic fate many years ago. And now, her heart was the target of pursuit for both Yue Guanyi and the powerful Empress Dowager Qin Qing.
While Yue Guanyi only dared to silently care for and protect the one he loved from afar, the Empress Dowager Qin Qing openly expressed his feelings and did not hesitate to take advantage of his power to approach Qiu Shuzhi. The covert struggle between the two most powerful forces in the imperial court began…
Trigger warning: All men in this novel are yandere style.

It’s progressing a bit slowly, but nicely… I hope there won’t be unnecessary distances between them due to misunderstandings.
I think this trip to Bath will be good to Laura. Meeting these women will inspire her to be more confident. I just hope her ex and Mr. Dalton don’t ruin it.
Each chapter leaves me in suspense for the future. Although the readers are given assurance from Laura’s feelings since the carriage kiss, I can’t help but doubt the next steps for this couple! Ian’s feeling are deep and tumultuous like waves against a cliff. I can only hope that when the two finally meet, he will remain level headed.
