Miss Pendleton (Update to C.222 END) - Chapter 50
“Say it quickly. That you will accept the proposal. Hurry!”
The anger that had flared like fire in her heart dissipated helplessly in the face of fear. What if she became disabled like this? How would she live from now on? Her insides shrank in terror.
“Uncle! Please…… *sob*…… Yes, I understand. I’ll do as you wish, uncle! So please……”
Soon, the foot crushing her fingers lifted. Miss Pendleton clutched her hand and trembled violently as if convulsing. Apart from the tingling and stiff sensation as blood rushed back, she felt nothing in her hand. The crushed part felt like it had turned into a block of wood.
Gerald Pendleton went to sit in his chair and took out a new cigar from the cigarette box to smoke.
“Make sure to dress up well tomorrow. You may leave now.”
Miss Pendleton staggered out of the study. Her crushed hand was stained bright red with shoe marks. Miss Pendleton went straight to her room and threw herself on the bed. She buried her face in the pillow and sobbed.
A wave of misery washed over her. What had just happened opened the floodgates to memories of the past. How harsh her uncle’s mistreatment had been in her childhood, and how powerless she herself had been. For the dozens of years since leaving the Pendleton household, she had lived trying to escape the past.
As a top student who never missed first place in seven years at boarding school. As a proper lady and helpful friend in 12 years in society, she had strived to prove herself. To prove how useful a person she was, contrary to Gerald Pendleton’s contempt.
But the violence just now had merged her childhood and present that she had desperately tried to separate.
She felt like she was eight years old again, hit with an ashtray and running crying to the nursery.
She felt like she was nine, unjustly accused of stealing her uncle’s porcelain ornament and beaten unfairly.
She felt like she had returned to being ten, hurt by her uncle’s curses and soaking her bed with tears.
She had believed she would never submit again. She had sworn she would protect herself now. But in the end, again…… again……
She writhed. It felt like her heart would burst. She felt powerless, wronged, angry, and hated herself. The pain of not being able to save herself from the repeated abuse seemed to tear her apart.

Cold Male Lead Became My Clingy Husband (Female-Dominant)
Feng Bai Su transmigrated into a matriarchal novel, becoming the sister of the female protagonist and the Seventh Princess of the Feng Ling Kingdom.
After working herself to death in her previous life, finally reincarnating as a princess, she only wanted to be a lazy fish who could eat, sleep, and play.
Until she met the male protagonist from the book, Wei Jing Mo, and he took a liking to her!
Wei Jing Mo is the top young man in Feng Ling City, talented in both appearance and ability, from a prestigious family, with a cold and otherworldly appearance, a figure like the bright moon in the hearts of noble ladies. It was thought that only the most powerful and talented noble lady in Feng Ling City would be worthy of such a brilliant young man. Who knew that this young gentleman would secretly admire the infamous Seventh Princess?
Short scene 1:
Feng Bai Su looked at the young man crying like a pear blossom in the rain before her, and couldn’t help but doubt her life.
Wasn’t the male lead described as a cold and otherworldly figure in the book?
Then who was this poor little thing crying with swollen red eyes and tear-stained face?
Short scene 2:
Wei Jing Mo stared intently at Feng Bai Su who was about to go out, wanting to say, “Be careful on the road.”
Before he could speak, Feng Bai Su suddenly bent down and bit his cheek.
Her peach blossom eyes were full of disdain: “Tsk! You’re so clingy!”
Wei Jing Mo: “…”
A talented fox spirit female lead with a flirtatious appearance but actually abstinent VS A cold-looking but actually naive and clingy little jealous male lead

It’s progressing a bit slowly, but nicely… I hope there won’t be unnecessary distances between them due to misunderstandings.
I think this trip to Bath will be good to Laura. Meeting these women will inspire her to be more confident. I just hope her ex and Mr. Dalton don’t ruin it.
Each chapter leaves me in suspense for the future. Although the readers are given assurance from Laura’s feelings since the carriage kiss, I can’t help but doubt the next steps for this couple! Ian’s feeling are deep and tumultuous like waves against a cliff. I can only hope that when the two finally meet, he will remain level headed.
