Married First, a Couple (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
“I seem to know surprisingly little about you.”
“What do you mean…?”
Tae Yeon raised her head and looked up at Do Jun. His sharp-looking eyes were fixed on her.
As expected, his gaze today was once again cold and distant.
‘Will the day ever come when warmth fills those eyes?’
Do Jun, still silently staring at Tae Yeon, strode decisively toward the table placed at the center of his office.
Then, he placed Tae Yeon’s submitted proposal onto the table with a firm thud. Tae Yeon approached and sat down in the empty seat.
“Is there any issue with the proposal I submitted?”
Seeing Tae Yeon’s innocent expression, Do Jun let out a faint, amused chuckle.
“Issue.”
He murmured while sinking deeply into the sofa.
“There is.”
Tae Yeon clenched her hands, which rested on her knees. This was her first feedback from Do Jun, and she was extremely nervous.
“If you tell me what’s wrong, I’ll revise it and resubmit the proposal.”
Her voice remained remarkably firm and resolute—showing no trace of tension or trembling.
‘When discussing work, she seems like a completely different person.’
Do Jun’s lips curled upward, intrigued, as he asked:
“Why suddenly a new product made from konjac rice?”
“I was taught that new products should be the kind others question: ‘Will this even work?’”
She was utterly different from the woman that morning—timid and subdued, performing affectionate spousal acting at his request.
Now, she looked assertive, and confidence in her own proposal idea shone brightly in her clear brown eyes under the night-like calm.
That sight intrigued Do Jun.
“Interesting.”
“If you’d let me know which part didn’t sit well with you, Director, I’ll fix it.”
“I’m asking not as your department head—but as your husband.”
“…What?”
Her seemingly composed eyes wavered. She wondered why he’d suddenly ask this and what his true intentions were.
“Why do you continue working at KK Foods instead of moving to Cha Shin Dairy, which Father manages?”
Before Tae Yeon could even fully grasp Do Jun’s intent—
He spoke again, cutting off her chance to answer, as if he had more questions he wanted to ask.
“And why didn’t you develop this new product idea using Cha Shin Dairy’s ingredients?”
Tae Yeon answered without hesitation.
“Why are you curious about that?”
Apparently caught off guard by her counterquestion, Do Jun exhaled a low sigh.
“Because it’s unusual.”
He straightened himself in his chair, locking eyes intently with Tae Yeon.
“What you’re thinking—what you’re hiding from me.”
“What?”
“That’s what I’m curious about.”
As Do Jun leaned forward, Tae Yeon instinctively pulled back. She couldn’t understand his words at all.
“I’m hiding nothing from you, Director.”
“From your husband, then.”
“…Nor from my husband.”
Do Jun’s brow remained deeply furrowed, clearly dissatisfied with her answer.
“Fine. It’s your freedom to conceptualize the new product however you like.”
He flipped through one or two pages of the proposal Tae Yeon had prepared, then continued.
“There’s just one thing I’m curious about: President Jin seems desperately eager to insert Cha Shin Dairy products into ours at KK Foods. Are you certain this direction is truly okay?”
Where his earlier questions felt almost like an interrogation, his latest remark sounded sincerely concerned.
She was puzzled—perhaps even more so precisely because she knew Do Jun wasn’t the type to care about such trifles in his busy schedule.
Tae Yeon smiled faintly as she replied.
Trending
“Yes. After all, I’m an employee of KK Foods.”
It wasn’t pretense. After reading the sincerity in her clear eyes, Do Jun absentmindedly stroked his chin.
The more he learned, the more he wanted to uncover her true self.
Just then, a knock came at the door, followed by Secretary Choi’s voice announcing the upcoming meeting.
Do Jun casually glanced at his watch, then fixed his gaze back on Tae Yeon.
“Let’s have dinner together after work today.”
“Dinner…”
“Don’t plan on refusing. We agreed to spend one hour together daily.”
Tae Yeon forced a cheerful smile before replying.
“Understood. But let’s meet at the agreed location.”
“You dislike leaving work with me?”
“It’s not that I dislike it—it’s just that I don’t want to draw attention from others.”
Do Jun was tall by nature and inevitably drew attention wherever he went, even without trying.
Wanting to hide, as much as possible, that her husband was Do Jun while at the office, she had no choice but to suggest this.
Do Jun stepped back slightly and accepted her proposal.
“Fine. May I choose both the time and location myself?”
“Yes.”
Once their business concluded, Tae Yeon left the office first. As the door clicked shut behind her, Do Jun pressed his fingers to his temples as if suffering a headache.
He’d assumed that spending time together and exchanging a few words would quickly reveal what kind of woman she was—but that hadn’t been the case at all.
The more they talked, the more unknown facts surfaced. She was, unexpectedly, a woman full of charm.
“Tonight, no matter what, I’ll properly pry into her.”
[This is the timeline separator]After work, Tae Yeon headed to the address Do Jun had sent.
Upon entering the restaurant—a renovated hanok—and stating Do Jun’s name, she was guided to a private room.
As she opened the door, she found Do Jun already seated inside.
“You arrived early.”
“I worried that if I were even slightly late, our date time would shrink.”
No sooner had Tae Yeon sat down than an assortment of pre-ordered royal Korean cuisine was laid out all at once on the table.
Do Jun stared at her for a moment, then asked:
“How’s your indigestion?”
“After taking the medicine you bought me, I feel much better. Thank you.”
“I’m glad to hear that.”
Do Jun picked up his chopsticks first and placed a well-cooked rib onto Tae Yeon’s side plate.
“I can help myself.”
“This is practice.”
“Practice for…? Ah.”
She quickly realized his intention.
Even busy Do Jun had set aside one hour daily simply to appear, in front of others, as the perfect married couple.
Indeed, he was a man who never moved without purpose.
“I’ll enjoy it. Please eat, Do Jun.”
Tae Yeon, in turn, placed a deliciously grilled eel piece onto Do Jun’s side plate. Watching it silently for a moment, Do Jun let out a faint chuckle.
“Do you know what it signifies when a wife offers grilled eel to her husband?”
“Huh?”
She’d placed it there instinctively, just because it looked tasty—no deeper thought involved. His question caught her off guard, and embarrassment flushed her cheeks crimson.
Amused by her reaction, Do Jun lifted the corners of his mouth.
“I had no idea you expected this kind of thing from me.”
“No—it’s not like that.”
“Even your strong denial seems suspicious.”
Unsure how to respond, Tae Yeon hesitated briefly, then cautiously asked:
“There’s something I’m curious about.”

“Ask me anything.”
“About us… Never mind.”
It wasn’t a question one asked soberly or abruptly. When Tae Yeon trailed off, Do Jun, sensing hesitation, gently urged her again.
“Go ahead. Ask the question you were about to.”
“I’m just curious how far our act needs to go.”
“What do you mean?”
Do Jun set down his chopsticks—conversing with Tae Yeon apparently more engaging than the meal itself.
Propping his chin in his hand, he watched her intently as she carefully continued:
“Literally—does it extend to kissing, like we did earlier in front of Madam Choi…?”
“Or do we need to go beyond that?”
“…Yes.”
As she said it, her cheeks flushed even deeper red.
Noticing her fanning herself as if overheated, Do Jun spoke softly:
“Do you want to sleep with me?”
Startled by the abrupt question, Tae Yeon could only widen her eyes in silence.
Do Jun tilted his head slightly, clearly waiting for her answer.
Tae Yeon moistened her lower lip with her tongue, trying to calm her nerves.
She *was* curious about this, as he’d pointed out—but she hadn’t expected him to dive in so suddenly, without even a warning blink, leaving her thoroughly flustered.
She blinked rapidly—closing and reopening her eyes. Though they were a contract couple, this was an unavoidable topic.
Suppressing her trembling voice, she asked:
“What about you, Do Jun?”
Amused, Do Jun raised one eyebrow. Unlike Tae Yeon, he answered without hesitation.
“If I said yes, would you go along with it?”
His eyes gleamed like a predator hiding its claws, waiting for the right moment.
“I’ll try my best.”
Her expression hardened as if she were steeling herself for a difficult task—and that reaction clearly pricked Do Jun’s pride.
She’d laughed warmly and visited hotels with *that* man who claimed to love her, yet now stood before *him*, feigning such innocence.
He poured wine from the bottle he’d pre-ordered into her glass.
“I’m not good with alcohol. Please drink it yourself.”
“That’s disappointing. This is the first private meal we’ve shared as a couple since my return.”
He filled his own glass with the ruby-red wine, then lifted it toward his face.
“I’d really like you to at least share one glass with me.”
Reluctantly, Tae Yeon picked up her glass.
*Clang*—their glasses met midair.
Despite the clear, pleasant chime, Tae Yeon remained tense.
‘Fine. Maybe alcohol will help ease this awkwardness, at least.’
In this strained atmosphere, wine seemed the only refuge. She took a sip—the sweet yet slightly bitter taste of the wine flooded her mouth.
She’d intended just one sip to relax, but contrary to her plan, she ended up finishing the entire glass. Setting the empty glass down, she looked as surprised as Do Jun.
“You said you couldn’t handle alcohol.”
“It’s delicious—the wine, I mean.”
Do Jun refilled her empty glass once more.
After several more rounds of clinking and emptying glasses, Tae Yeon’s eyes gradually grew heavy.
“Haa…”
She tried hard to stay alert, but having drunk too much too quickly, it wasn’t easy.
“Are you all right? Honestly, why did you drink so much?”
Do Jun’s low voice grew increasingly distant.
Just as her alcohol-laden face was about to drop onto the table—
Do Jun shot up from his seat and reached out. His large hand cupped tiny Tae Yeon’s face, catching her just in time.
Fortunately, he prevented her forehead from hitting the table with a thud.
He let out a sigh of relief as he looked down at Tae Yeon, her eyes tightly shut.

“You didn’t actually fall asleep, did you?”
He called her name several times. Hearing him, Tae Yeon slowly pried her eyelids open.
Do Jun’s handsome face filled her blurry vision.
For a moment, she tensed at his sudden closeness—but then, gazing at him, she giggled softly.
“Hehe.”
Do Jun stared at her expressionlessly.
Tae Yeon reached out, playfully touching his nose, and murmured to herself:
“So high.”
After tapping his nose, she poked his cheeks a few times and again whispered:
“And so soft.”
Finally, her hand landed on Do Jun’s plump lips.
“This part’s really hot.”
As if molding clay, she gently stroked his lips several times.
Do Jun, who’d been silently observing, let his eyes turn icy cold—then swiftly seized her wrist.
“I think it’s time to end the teasing.”

…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
