Madam and the Stable Keeper (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 47
The moment Edith heard Walter’s uniquely mocking voice, a whirlwind of emotions surged within her.
She was grateful that Walter had come to her aid in a situation from which she thought there was no escape, yet she realized he was now in even greater danger than she was.
In her mind, she vividly pictured Walter being caught by Elizabeth and her group, suffering a terrible fate—and the thought drained even more color from her already pale face.
He was the one who had saved her from Sophia’s initial scheme, remembered her birthday, found her that cherished necklace filled with memories, and granted her a brief taste of freedom and peace.
If he were to be discovered and killed just for coming to find her, she feared she would spend the rest of her life drowning in regret.
She wanted to confront him with an accusing question as he stared back at her with that indifferent expression.
Do you even know whose blood runs in your veins, to dare be here? Why did you come looking for me again, when you don’t even know who stands behind those hunting you?
But the words that finally slipped out in her trembling voice sounded pitifully meek.
“Why… why are you here, Walter?”
“…….”
“How did you even get in? I sent you away.”
Seeing Edith’s face—devoid of any hint of joy at his arrival—Walter let out a scornful laugh. It wasn’t because her near-breaking expression amused him.
Back when he swung his sword in the volunteer corps, he’d often indulged in a vague fantasy: that when she saw him again, she’d immediately reach out, pull him into her arms, and whisper that it had all been a mistake—that circumstances beyond her control had forced her to say things she never truly felt—and apologize.
In that fantasy, whenever she spoke those words in a tender voice, Walter felt he could forgive everything, even if it were merely lies spoken for survival’s sake.
He’d even resolved—if she ever asked him to pretend he didn’t know about her shameless actions, or begged him to erase it all from memory as though it never happened—he would do exactly as she asked.

After Being Cheated On, She Picked Up a Treasure (Female-dominant)
One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.
On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.
Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.
News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.
Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.
But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.
The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.
The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”
So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.
She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.
*
After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.
Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.
Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.
She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.
“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
