Idren woke her up late in the morning, just as he had said he would the previous night. He was seated beside her, still in his nightclothes.

Ophelia asked the man, who—judging by the fatigue evident on his face—had clearly risen long before her.

“Why are you still in the bedroom?”

The man replied with a strangely dispirited look on his face.

“It seemed best to let you sleep in as long as possible on the morning after our wedding night.”

Servants were already waiting, so Ophelia was able to wash immediately upon waking. When she emerged from the bathroom adjoining the marital chamber, breakfast was already laid out in the tidied room.

“Come here and eat.”

Idren, seated on a chair beside the bed, spoke as soon as she entered the room. Ophelia obeyed and climbed onto the bed. A servant promptly placed a small table before her, as if awaiting her arrival.

Once the food was set upon it, Idren dismissed the attendants. Ophelia, who evidently had also washed and now carried a pleasant fragrance, began eating what the man served her.

While she chewed on a piece of fruit, Idren explained the day’s schedule.

“In the afternoon, there will be presentations from the foreign delegations that arrived the day before. After they depart, the Elder Council will enter. It would be wise to memorize their faces.”

Since she had already intended to observe the Edegroon nobles this time, Ophelia nodded. Idren, placing finely sliced meat before her, added,

“I mentioned public sentiment to you, but I never meant to pressure you. If anything feels unpleasant, don’t force yourself—you needn’t concern yourself with it.”

“I understand.”

Then Ophelia said to the man, who was using his own utensils only to cut food for her,
