Lord Preston's Secret Tutor (47 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 73
Harrison said nothing further, but the crowd seemed to have guessed the answer and cast accusatory glances at Gallup.
Gallup bit his lower lip, and Parker’s face flushed red. Parker glared at the witness he had brought, as if ready to stab him.
“Is it true that you were simply dismissed due to Lord Preston’s caprice?”
“Of course. Well, perhaps he also disliked my teaching style, but there was no other reason.”
“Very well. Then we shall proceed with this claim. Although it contradicts Lord Preston’s statement, all our other witnesses will corroborate Mr. Mayor’s testimony, so the credibility of the testimony lies with us. We will paint Lord Preston as an eccentric and unreasonable employer.”
“Just trust me! And don’t forget to pay the promised sum.”
Recalling Gallup’s confident smirk, Parker cursed under his breath, “Damn it.” Kale, seated beside him, patted his shoulder.
“Calm down, Parker. Don’t lose your composure.”
Gallup, acting as though utterly unaware of the letter’s existence, turned to Parker and shrugged his shoulders. That gesture only made Parker’s expression twist more fiercely.
Evan addressed the judge.
“Your Honor, we respectfully ask that you wisely assess the credibility of the plaintiff’s witnesses thus far. They have presented mere assertions and no actual evidence whatsoever. That concludes my statement.”
With those words, Evan returned to his seat. Windsor gave him a subtle nod—an acknowledgment of his efforts.
Evan let out a silent sigh and gazed straight ahead. They had surmounted one hurdle, but the matter was far from resolved. They had only just returned to square one.
The only witness Windsor could present was, at best, the butler William. Considering William’s long-standing ties to the Preston household, the chance of his testimony being accepted was extremely slim.
On the other hand, the plaintiff’s testimony was also on the verge of being discredited. After this back-and-forth, they had merely managed to return to the starting line.

She turned around upon hearing the noise.
He looked up at her, his eyebrows drooping: “My hand… has no strength.”
“Shall I… feed you?” she asked tentatively.
He opened his mouth cheerfully: “Ah—”
Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
