Baron Montri knew what object Edmund had been holding until the war’s end.

It was because Edmund had broken into a bright smile that morning upon hearing that the ring, commissioned from a renowned artisan at the ducal manor, had arrived. He looked exactly like an ordinary man deeply in love.

The happiness was all the more precious because it had been earned through his long ordeal.

Baron Montri slowly closed his eyelids and sank into reminiscence.

But about a month ago, when he visited the ducal manor after hearing news of the incident, Edmund, his face shadowed by death, had entrusted him with handling the aftermath.

His heart had sunk dreadfully at that moment.

Eventually, after hearing everything from Rail, Baron Montri fervently wished for Etricia’s recovery.

Having silently stood by, unknowing whether his master was dead or alive, he finally received word of Etricia’s awakening.

‘Truly fortunate. If Count Bueil had slipped into eternal slumber…’

Heaving a sigh, Baron Montri frowned, his wing-like white eyebrows knitting together as he pressed firmly on his eyelids.
