Caught off guard by the sudden situation, he was dragged away helplessly with a stunned expression. Thud—the front of his body lurched forward as his strong arms instinctively gripped the railing behind her.

In an instant, their faces drew close; Edmund’s heart plummeted all the way to his toes at the sight of her delicate features set neatly within her small face.

Entranced by Etricia’s clear gaze, he felt as if the two of them were the only ones left in the world.

“Brother.”

At that moment, a voice as tender as misty rain seeped into his ears.

His eyes, burning with sudden heat, involuntarily slid downward.

Beneath the gentle curve of her nose lay smooth, plump lips.

Until now, it had meant nothing—but the brush of her fingertips against his earlobe now felt shamelessly bold. The tendons in his hands gripping the railing tensed tautly.

Like a warning beep, his mind seemed to shout danger.
