Interest Compounds on Revenge (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 66
Lea intended to look for love letters when she returned to the ducal mansion.
It wasn’t out of mere jealousy or curiosity; she ran a business catering to women and wanted to understand the psychology of various people.
‘What difference would it make if I checked?’
The moment she felt the warmth from Terren’s hand clasping hers, she realized it was all pointless.
‘This suspicion is useless.’
Had she ever expected Allen to betray her like this? She hadn’t even noticed his ambiguous relationship with Sarah.
‘We’re not at a stage where a single love letter should make me anxious.’
If their bond was destined to break, no amount of effort could restore it. Yet, on the other hand, she agreed with Teresa’s words.
[“My lady, love has an expiration date, and men are bound to change. So you needn’t give your whole heart.”]
It wasn’t entirely wrong. But Teresa overlooked that human emotions couldn’t be controlled at will. If one could simply give more or less love, no one would ever get hurt by it.
‘After all, I was the one fooled by false affection.’
Teresa probably saw Lea as naive, but in truth, Lea understood better than anyone the illusions and realities of love.
‘It’s human nature to yearn for love again, even after being hurt like that.’
Lea looked up at Terren and smiled gently. He was a man who poured out blind, unconditional love.
‘I never want to go through that again.’

I don’t understand, if she is trying to save the twins, why is she putting a gun to her head? She needs to be alive for the twins to survive.
This is sounding less like a punishment and more like a privilege.
Sometimes this novel’s inability to reflect anything close to realism frustrates me. Let’s reward arson and attempted murder! (Can’t help but point out the lack of creativity with Mr. Baker’s name.)
