Interest Compounds on Revenge (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 62
Lea pushed Salame away. This wasn’t the time to seek comfort in his arms.
“Tell me about it. I’ll listen to everything.”
Salame spoke gently. At first, Lea wondered if it was even necessary to talk, but since this involved his mother, she wanted to hear whatever he might say.
So she recounted in detail the incident that had happened at the riding grounds, and Salame listened intently to her words.
However, Salame’s expression kept shifting moment by moment.
“Hmm, for our mother, the scar on her face is like a bomb’s detonator. Normally, she’s a kind and merciful emperor, but she utterly lacks patience when it comes to her face.”
Salame was unusually serious whenever he spoke about his mother. He didn’t joke around or say anything irrelevant.
Among his words, what struck Lea most was his mention that his mother’s personality had become as volatile as it was now only after surviving smallpox.
Lea empathized with that as a woman. No, even as a man, such a scar would have been hard to bear.
“Didn’t she try anything?”
It was true scars were hard to heal, but Lea wondered whether she’d explored options beyond simply covering it with a veil.
“Why wouldn’t she? She tried makeup, wore masks, and even sought out people who claimed they could fix her face with magic. But everything failed.”
Lea quietly recalled Teresa’s face.
Though the mere thought of that moment filled her with dread, she felt compelled to address it.
‘Her face wasn’t distorted or deformed—only the skin bore a prominent scar.’

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.

I don’t understand, if she is trying to save the twins, why is she putting a gun to her head? She needs to be alive for the twins to survive.
This is sounding less like a punishment and more like a privilege.
Sometimes this novel’s inability to reflect anything close to realism frustrates me. Let’s reward arson and attempted murder! (Can’t help but point out the lack of creativity with Mr. Baker’s name.)
