In the Midst of Revenge on Cinderella (Completed Main Story) - Side Story 5
4. Karma
The Hillik Kingdom adhered strictly to monogamy. For the Hillik people, whose culture placed great importance on family, this was only natural. Of course, there were always a few rotten apples popping up here and there, but generally speaking, that was how things stood.
Royal families, who especially valued marital affection and fidelity—much like the first queen, who chose to return to the Source after the first king’s death—were even more so, and infidelity was naturally taboo.
Yet those rotten apples appeared even within the royal family itself.
The queen, who had always been frail, struggled to recover her health after giving birth to Kahilrn.
She rarely appeared at official events and spent most days confined to her bed. Seeing this, the king took a secondary consort, citing the need to fill the void left by the queen’s absence—but in truth, he simply coveted the beautiful woman.
Naturally, he faced immense criticism both inside and outside the palace. Yet, paradoxically, his actions also granted absolution to other royals who had grown weary of their stifling marriages.
After the king took a secondary consort, it became increasingly common for nobles to secretly keep mistresses, and their wounded spouses directed all their resentment toward the new consort.
Though she had initially desired the position of the king’s wife, the secondary consort felt deeply insulted by the very notion of being a concubine. Unable to contain her fury, and having grown up as the proud daughter of a marquisate, she meticulously found faults with the families of those who slandered her and brought about their ruin.
She even bribed the Royal Physician to mix poisonous herbs into the queen’s medicine. The uniquely scented poison was concealed among strongly aromatic medicinal ingredients, and no one noticed as it slowly eroded the queen’s health.
Just as she had planned, the queen succumbed to the poison after a short struggle. Because the queen had always been in poor health, no suspicion arose at all.
With the queen dead, the secondary consort finally ascended to the position she had so desperately craved. But she could not rest content there.
Kahilrn, the lingering ember left behind by the late queen, stood in her way. Desiring that her own child would soon ascend the throne, she first destroyed House Demon, which had supported Kahilrn.
House Demon, once blessed with both wealth and honor, collapsed helplessly under her calculated schemes and machinations. Only the queen’s younger sister survived, having married into the forgotten lineage of a founding noble family.
Kahilrn was left utterly alone. At first, the secondary consort intended to use the same poison on him that she had used on the queen. But somehow, every attempt inexplicably failed—as if someone were deliberately interfering.

Feng Bai Su transmigrated into a matriarchal novel, becoming the sister of the female protagonist and the Seventh Princess of the Feng Ling Kingdom.
After working herself to death in her previous life, finally reincarnating as a princess, she only wanted to be a lazy fish who could eat, sleep, and play.
Until she met the male protagonist from the book, Wei Jing Mo, and he took a liking to her!
Wei Jing Mo is the top young man in Feng Ling City, talented in both appearance and ability, from a prestigious family, with a cold and otherworldly appearance, a figure like the bright moon in the hearts of noble ladies. It was thought that only the most powerful and talented noble lady in Feng Ling City would be worthy of such a brilliant young man. Who knew that this young gentleman would secretly admire the infamous Seventh Princess?
Short scene 1:
Feng Bai Su looked at the young man crying like a pear blossom in the rain before her, and couldn’t help but doubt her life.
Wasn’t the male lead described as a cold and otherworldly figure in the book?
Then who was this poor little thing crying with swollen red eyes and tear-stained face?
Short scene 2:
Wei Jing Mo stared intently at Feng Bai Su who was about to go out, wanting to say, “Be careful on the road.”
Before he could speak, Feng Bai Su suddenly bent down and bit his cheek.
Her peach blossom eyes were full of disdain: “Tsk! You’re so clingy!”
Wei Jing Mo: “…”
A talented fox spirit female lead with a flirtatious appearance but actually abstinent VS A cold-looking but actually naive and clingy little jealous male lead
