“Rude human, show proper respect to the King.”

The child glared at me and scolded.

‘Could it be that fairies have a culture of worshipping cats?’

It was utterly unbelievable that this adorable black cat, grooming its face by licking its front paw, was truly the Fairy King. Just then, Kahilrn grabbed the cat by the scruff of its neck and lifted it up.

“Hiss!”

As the cat hissed and squirmed, the child and the other fairies immediately jumped to their feet. Fairies emerging from their orbs in human form glared at Kahilrn.

“How dare you commit such insolence! Put His Majesty down at once!”

The fairies looked ready to pounce on Kahilrn any second. Yet Kahilrn merely held the cat up, examined it indifferently from side to side, and spoke.

“So, you truly are the Fairy King.”

In that moment, I was reminded once again of Kahilrn’s true nature—something I’d momentarily forgotten amidst his usual sly behavior toward me.

“What are you doing? Put him down right away!”

When I grabbed his arm, Kahilrn obediently set the cat down. But instead of going to the fairies, the cat rubbed itself repeatedly against my legs. Seeing this, Kahilrn raised an eyebrow.

“This feels strangely unpleasant.”

Watching the cat act so utterly feline, I briefly wondered if I’d been tricked.

“Please come this way!”
