Impure Wedding Night (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
Ye Rin swallowed hard.
She also swallowed the words “That woman is me” deep inside herself.
“I was so mesmerized, wondering how someone could look so beautiful even while crying, that I couldn’t help but stare.”
Lee Hyun briefly sank into the memory of that woman, then quickly looked apologetic.
“My thoughts were shallow. I’ve heard it’s rude to talk about another woman in front of your girlfriend.”
“Huh?”
“I’ve just realized yet another thing.”
Lee Hyun had already finished talking to himself and reached his own conclusion.
“From now on, I’ll try to refrain from comparing Secretary Han to that woman.”
“It’s fine.”
She wasn’t upset at all.
After all, that woman was her.
And truthfully, she’d wanted to hear about that day—even like this.
Because she was curious about what Lee Hyun had felt back then.
Lee Hyun raised his eyebrows slightly, surprised.
“You don’t mind?”
“Well, if we were real lovers, of course that’d be upsetting.”
Ye Rin kept speaking without meeting Lee Hyun’s eyes.
“But we’re not real lovers. Besides, the more you talk about that woman, the easier it’ll be for me to find her.”
“Is that so?”
Lee Hyun fell silent for a moment.
‘Ah, was that excuse way too awkward?’
After all, who’d ever say it’s fine to hear someone talk about another woman right in front of them?
Her last words probably came off as too eager.
‘I hope he doesn’t figure out I’m that woman just from what I said.’
She couldn’t ask, and she couldn’t act shamelessly either—so she was extremely tense.
Lee Hyun chuckled, amused, tugging up the corners of his mouth.
“Hearing you say that, Secretary Han, it actually makes sense.”
“Huh?”
Lee Hyun nodded, clearly pleased.
“If I notice similarities between that woman and you in the future, I’ll be sure to mention them.”
“Yes. Thank you.”
“No need to thank me.”
Lee Hyun slowly started driving again.
The conversation had lapsed, and silence filled the car.
Ye Rin cautiously broke it.
“Managing Director, there’s something I’ve been wondering.”
“What is it?”
“Back when we met the CEO of Cheto, you mentioned you’d suffered financial losses because of that missing woman, right?”
While asking, Ye Rin unconsciously gripped her bag strap tightly.
“That’s right.”
“Could I possibly know what kind of losses you suffered?”
Ye Rin swallowed again.
She couldn’t let herself have unknowingly caused Lee Hyun harm.
Slowly, Lee Hyun opened his mouth.
“It was massive damage.”
“What? When?”
She nearly snapped back with, “When did I ever do that?”
Thankfully, she managed to omit the “I” before speaking.
“What I meant was—since when did that damage occur?”
Trending
“Ever since that night with her, I haven’t slept well.”
“Oh.”
“Every time I close my eyes, her face drifts into view.”
As he said this, Lee Hyun let out a small smile, probably finding it silly even to himself.
“Well, honestly, it’s the same even with my eyes open.”
In short, whether awake or asleep, his mind was consumed only by thoughts of her.
No matter how hard she tried, Ye Rin couldn’t understand which part of herself had affected him so deeply.
Unable to suppress her curiosity any longer, she finally asked—
ostensibly to gather more information about “that woman.”
“What exactly do you see when you picture her…?”
Heh—
Lee Hyun, still driving, let out a quiet laugh and turned his head.
Their eyes briefly met in midair.
Ye Rin quickly turned away. Just that fleeting glance made her cheeks flush red.
‘Why am I like this, seriously?’
She gently touched her burning cheek and smiled calmly.
Instead of answering her question, Lee Hyun spoke differently.
“You might find it awkward hearing this, Secretary Han.”
“Me?”
“It’s quite explicit—might make you uncomfortable. Still want to hear it?”
“Yes.”
As soon as she answered, Ye Rin squeezed her eyes shut.
She couldn’t understand why her mouth kept blurting things out before her brain could catch up.
“Everything that happened in bed.”
“……”
“Every single detail is perfectly stored in my memory.”
“Oh. Right.”
Her lips had gone dry, and Ye Rin unconsciously moistened her lower lip with her tongue—
unaware that Lee Hyun’s gaze lingered there longer than usual.
“Sounds like it was a truly unforgettable night.”
“Secretary Han…”
“Yes?”
“I suddenly wonder—what if it had been you instead?”
“Oh, I’ve never had a one-night stand…”
Lee Hyun watched her intently, clearly waiting for her next words.
“I’ve never done it even once.”
“Oh.”
How could she possibly recount tales of one-night stands to her superior?
So once again, she had no choice but to lie.
“I’m absolutely not the type who enjoys one-night stands either.”
“I see.”
“I really mean it.”
“I believe you.”
Ye Rin beamed, her eyes sparkling.
“She was my first.”
“That might be why she’s so deeply etched in your memory.”
“Maybe that’s exactly it.”
Lee Hyun lightly tapped the steering wheel with his index finger.
“Anyway, because of her, I can’t sleep well at night, and during the day I can’t focus on work either.”
“Is that right?”

“All my urgent tasks are piling up—the financial damage isn’t trivial.”
“……”
“That’s why I said I’ve suffered serious financial losses.”
Ye Rin truly wanted to cry.
She hadn’t meant for any of this, yet Lee Hyun blamed it all on “that woman.”
“How unfortunate.”
That was all she could say.
Lee Hyun’s lips twitched slightly again.
“That’s exactly why Secretary Han must find that woman quickly.”
“Yes….”
Ye Rin replied in a voice barely above a whisper.
“At this rate, Jiseok Electronics might go under.”
If Jiseok Electronics shut down, she’d lose her job too—but there was nothing she could do.
It seemed that woman would never be found.
No, she shouldn’t be found.
“Because of her, every single night has become painful and lonely for me.”
“If you’re having trouble sleeping, maybe you could ask your doctor for sleeping pills?”
Lee Hyun’s eyes darkened slightly.
“I’ve already tried that.”
“Oh, I see.”
“I’ve tried everything recommended for insomnia—nothing worked.”
She regretted asking.
Her impulsive curiosity had unleashed far too heavy a consequence.
“It’s fine. Humans can’t die just from lack of sleep.”
“……”
Watching Lee Hyun casually utter such a chilling remark, Ye Rin made a firm decision.
No matter what, she absolutely couldn’t let him find out she was that woman.
The moment he discovered the truth, he’d undoubtedly demand she compensate for every sleepless night and every bit of financial loss caused by his delayed work.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyun’s car turned into a familiar alley.
She’d been so absorbed in conversation she hadn’t noticed where they were headed—and once again, it was right in front of her house.
“Thank you for driving me home again today, Managing Director.”
“Don’t mention it. Isn’t this only natural between lovers?”
As she unfastened her seatbelt with a click, Ye Rin drew a line.
“Managing Director, I still haven’t decided yet about our arrangement—this fake relationship.”
“You can be surprisingly sharp sometimes, Secretary Han.”
Lee Hyun reached out and caught the seatbelt as it retracted.
Then, like someone unwilling to let her go, he clicked it back into place.
“Managing Director?”
“You need to bring me your answer tomorrow morning.”
“Yes, I will.”
“I hope it’s a positive one.”
“I’ll think it over carefully tonight.”
“Alright.”
Only after hearing her reply did Lee Hyun finally release the seatbelt.
Phew.
Ye Rin let out a short breath and stepped out of the car.
She expected him to drive off immediately, but Lee Hyun got out after her.
“Managing Director?”
“Secretary Han, I drank quite a bit of water at the restaurant before leaving.”
“Huh?”

“So… would it be okay if I used your bathroom?”
Ye Rin’s mouth fell open.
“You can’t possibly mean you want to use my home bathroom?”
“Yes, that’s exactly what I mean.”
Lee Hyun frowned slightly, as if checking whether she thought he was joking.
“Secretary Han—do I look like I’m joking right now?”
“Managing Director, are you feeling unwell?”
“No.”
“Oh, that’s a relief.”
Truly a relief.
Ye Rin rummaged through her bag and pulled out a small bottle of water.
Without hesitation, she poured the remaining water onto the ground,
then handed the empty bottle to Lee Hyun.
“What’s this?”
“Managing Director, if it’s urgent, just get back in the car and use this…”
Lee Hyun took the bottle she offered and burst into laughter.
‘What’s so funny?’
He gazed at the narrow bottle opening and sighed helplessly.
“Right here…? Hah. No.”
He ran a hand through his hair in exasperation.
“Secretary Han, are you seriously underestimating me?”
“What?”
“It’s even more baffling because it’s coming from someone like you.”
Wondering if the bottle was simply too small, Ye Rin bit her lip.
“Still, wouldn’t that be enough?”
It was a full 500mL bottle, after all.
Even if he’d drunk a lot, that should’ve been sufficient.
“The opening’s just… ugh, never mind.”
Clearly embarrassed, Lee Hyun crushed the plastic bottle in one hand.
“Managing Director!”
“Secretary Han, I’m not trying to do anything inappropriate in your home—I genuinely just really need to go.”
“I understand that.”
But inviting him into her tiny apartment still felt awkward.
Lee Hyun looked even paler than before—clearly in real distress.
“I can’t just relieve myself on the street for the sake of my reputation, and the nearest subway station’s too far—I might have an accident on the way.”
He looked at Ye Rin with desperate eyes.
“Would a written pledge help?”
“What?”
“I swear I won’t lay a finger on even a single strand of your hair if I come inside.”
With no other choice, Ye Rin finally stepped aside.
“Really?”
“I swear on every share I own in Jiseok Electronics.”
He even offered to record his promise if she doubted him.
That wasn’t necessary, so Ye Rin turned and led the way toward her house.
‘Well, this wouldn’t have happened if he hadn’t driven me home.’
If he’d gone straight to his place from the restaurant, none of this would’ve occurred.
Because he’d given her a convenient ride, she couldn’t just ignore his predicament.
“Managing Director, you promised, right?”
“Secretary Han, hurry and lead the way.”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
