In the morning, Ormia regained consciousness and, feeling quite energetic, slowly walked through the garden escorted by Liam.
The Grand Duke and his wife, along with Kyler, watched the scene from the first-floor balcony. Duchess Grace’s face was full of smiles, while Kyler fidgeted, eager to go straight to Ormia.
“I could help Princess Ormia too.”
“Kyler, let them have some time alone. The princess leaves for the imperial capital tomorrow—they need this time together.”

Kyler looked down at his own hands and smiled.

His eyes sparkled as if he were a devoted fanatic.
Grace watched her lively second son with satisfaction, but the Grand Duke’s expression was bitter.
Though he had always resented the Beltoars, he still yearned for their blessing.
He had accepted Ormia’s blessing warily, yet remained uneasy—grateful, yet burdened by guilt for consuming her limited time.
Ormia’s time was slipping away toward death.
