I'll Be the Queen of the Enemy Country (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
The person who had been giving her a headache for the past few days was none other than Chase.
Chase, whom she had expected to immediately agree to their breakup, clung to her pathetically instead—completely contrary to her expectations.
Ever since returning to the royal palace, he kept sending gifts and letters.
At first, one gift arrived each day; by the second day, gifts came twice—morning and afternoon—and from the third day onward, they arrived without pause.
‘Is he trying to overwhelm me with sheer quantity?’
Elise didn’t even glance at them, but she could easily guess their contents.
‘He must feel regretful about losing me.’
Much of what Chase possessed, he owed to Elise.
‘Even if he doesn’t love me, he must see me as a servant he can’t afford to lose. Still, I didn’t expect him to cling this desperately.’
Even when Elise ignored his letters and returned his gifts, Chase’s pursuit continued.
Thus, between reading gossip columns, Elise pondered ways to break cleanly with Chase.
‘He won’t accept a breakup over something trivial.’
She knew Chase’s stubbornness well. Once he set his mind on something, he rarely changed it.
‘He’s got nothing to his name, yet because of that stubbornness, how much trouble has he caused me?’
Elise sighed, recalling past events.
To truly end things, she needed to disappoint him so thoroughly that he’d let her go completely—something so humiliating even his pride wouldn’t let him hold on.
‘If that happens, I’ll find it hard to stay in this country.’
Chase would surely threaten her—and Viscount Warton wouldn’t be any better.
Instead of currying favor with the royal family, she’d end up making enemies, possibly even facing assassination.
She might even be confined before she could even begin her revenge.
But it wasn’t hopeless.
She could erase her engagement to Chase, secure her own protection—and even repay a debt of gratitude.
Elise’s eyes blazed with determination.
“Congratulations, Miss. You’ve turned twenty today.”
“Oh…”
While lost in her thoughts, the new year had already arrived.
“What’s so special about the first day of the year?”
“But it is special! You’ve come of age this year.”
Close-knit families often celebrated the first day of the new year or honored their children’s coming-of-age, but the Wartons weren’t a close-knit family.
‘No—rather, I’m the only one excluded from that closeness.’
In the past, she might have felt hurt, but now Elise felt nothing. She gave a faint smile and said,
“Regina, I think I’ll go to bed early tonight.”
Regina, who had been tidying Elise’s room, turned to look at her.
“You’re sleepy already? You napped until late afternoon.”
“Yeah, strangely tired.”
“Are you unwell? Should I call the physician?”
“No, Regina.”
It was just feigned illness—and besides, the family physician wouldn’t come running just because Elise summoned him late at night.
In the Warton household, only Regina ever listened to her.
“If I still feel unwell tomorrow morning, I’ll see the physician then. And since I want to sleep in, don’t wake me until I call for you.”
Elise gently reassured the worried Regina.
“Promise me.”
After making that promise, Regina prepared Elise’s bed.
She lit fragrant incense said to improve sleep and warmed the bed with heated stones.
Her preparations were exceptionally thoughtful.
Regina took twice the usual care with the bedding.
Lately, Elise had seemed different somehow, and Regina was deeply worried.
Her mistress had always been bright, cheerful, and optimistic—but recently, Elise seemed shrouded in a faint mist.
On top of that, she’d announced she wanted to break up with Chase, whom she’d once adored, and kept insisting on being alone.
Regina carefully concealed her concern and left the room.

Hours later, when the moon revealed its face, Elise’s door quietly opened.
To find the person who could free her from Chase, Elise secretly slipped out of the viscount’s mansion.
[This is the timeline separator]Inside a noisy pub, a man turned his head and fiddled with his drink.
His large frame and slightly sun-kissed skin set him apart from the Bedrokan locals.
Difference often made one a target for aggression.
“What’s a barbarian bastard like you doing slithering in here? Get lost, you dog!”
“Do you even know what good liquor tastes like? You should be drinking monster blood, not this!”
When the man showed no reaction, the jeers crossed the line.
He lifted his head. The chilling gaze from his deep-set eyes made the troublemakers flinch.
“How dare you glare at us like that, you filthy wretch!”
Fear should have been instinctive self-preservation, yet the instigator ignored it and raised his hand.
Drunkenness breeds false courage.
The corner of the man’s mouth curled slightly into a relaxed smile, which only infuriated the provocateurs further.
“Lower your eyes, you bastard!”
Finally, the drunkard swung his arm.
He’d have to take a hit or two.
That’s what the man—called a barbarian—thought. But he never got the chance.
Thud.
Someone intervened, gripping the drunkard’s wrist.
“Just what do you think you’re doing? Discrimination against Titrians is prohibited under continental law.”
The clear, resonant voice carried unmistakable authority.
“Who the hell are you, some wench who crawled in from who-knows-where?”
The drunkard, humiliated at being restrained by a mere woman, erupted in anger.
Despite the crude insult, the woman remained calm.
“I am—”
She removed her hood. Golden hair tumbled down, and her pale face was finally revealed.
Several onlookers gasped. Even the so-called barbarian man, who had been watching her, was taken aback.
She slowly scanned the room as if demanding they see her face clearly, then finished her introduction.
“Elise Warton.”
Elise released the man’s wrist and looked down at the man who’d been ignored until now.
‘I knew I’d find you here, Karan.’
Karan, the barbarian, stared at her in confusion.
Karan Lisandro Titris.
The prince of Titris who had come seeking Elise when she lay dying.
He was the one destined to rescue her from her current predicament.
She’d deduced his presence here by piecing together memories of the past.
On Elise’s twentieth birthday, Bedroka held a spring celebration and unusually invited the Titrian royal family.
Titris responded by sending Prince Karan.
Both the invitation and Titris’s acceptance were highly unusual.
A month before the banquet, Karan arrived—and promptly thrashed Bedrokan locals in taverns.
The capital had been thrown into an uproar over the foreign prince’s violent outbursts.
Chase, who’d been assigned to manage Karan’s diplomatic stay, had been utterly exasperated—and Elise remembered it vividly.
Elise glanced pityingly at the drunken men.
‘You should be thanking me.’
When Elise boldly stepped in front of Karan, his eyebrows lifted. His gaze locked onto her.
“Warton? The Viscount Warton’s household?”
The drunkards finally grasped the situation and panicked.
Even common laborers frequenting this shabby tavern knew the Wartons.
The viscount was infamous for his foul temper.

Viscount Warton, involved in several modest ventures, often dealt directly with commoners and laborers.
He treated them like pebbles rolling in the gutter—kicking them around until they broke, then discarding them.
He was also notorious for showing no mercy when his inferiors erred.
People avoided him—not out of fear, but disgust.
“Yes. Viscount Warton—that’s my father’s title.”
“W-W-Warton household!”
Their faces turned pale.
“Oh dear, we’ve gravely offended you! But what brings you to a place like this…?”
Their attitude shifted completely from their earlier aggression. Shoulders hunched, hands rubbing together like flies, they looked pitiful—but Elise watched them indifferently.
Her indifference only deepened their unease.
“We’re sorry, Miss.”
“Your apology should go to him, not me.”
Elise tilted her head slightly toward Karan.
He neither stepped forward nor backed away, merely observing the scene as if unfazed.
“What? Apologize to that guy—no, to him?”
Elise gave a single nod.
Their faces twisted in discomfort. Even day laborers had their pride.
Bowing to a barbarian—someone rumored to eat people when starving—was unthinkable.
“Will you refuse?”
Elise asked. The men exchanged nervous glances.
Suddenly, Elise let out a light chuckle.
“I expected as much. Then I suppose I must apologize myself.”
She turned around.
Elise bowed deeply toward the seated man—with perfect courtesy.
Karan’s eyes widened in shock.
“Please forgive the Bedrokan’s rudeness.”
The bustling tavern fell silent as if doused with cold water.
Her very presence was scandalous—but for a viscount’s daughter to bow to a barbarian man? This would upend high society and the elders’ council.
Many rubbed their eyes, wondering if they’d seen wrong.
The man, bewildered by the situation, furrowed his brow in deep thought before finally speaking.
“Miss, this isn’t your fault. But I cannot let your gracious apology go unacknowledged—I accept it.”
He bowed respectfully, his gaze gentle—utterly unlike how he’d looked at the rabble earlier.
‘Does he recognize me?’
Elise hesitated. His tone felt oddly familiar, even nostalgic—as if reuniting with an old friend after years.
‘Impossible. I’m supposed to meet Karan for the first time at the upcoming banquet. Could he have heard of the Warton household?’
That made no sense either. What reason would Karan have to know about the Wartons?
Regardless, his courteous demeanor was uncharacteristic for a Titrian.
Centuries of rivalry had established unspoken rules between them—one being that Titrian nobles never bowed to Bedrokan nobles.
“The seat beside you is empty. May I sit?”
Those lingering nearby quickly moved away. As the area quieted, Elise placed her hand on the back of the vacant chair.
“This isn’t a suitable place for a lady like you. If you’re lost, I’ll escort you to your destination.”
“No, I came here on purpose.”
Elise gently covered Karan’s hand as he reached for his coat.
Karan jerked his hand back in surprise—so abruptly that even Elise was startled.
‘Does he dislike touching me? Then again, he never liked me much in the past either.’
Was her first impression really that bad? Her confidence plummeted.
‘I can’t back down now. Even if he doesn’t like me, we can still strike a deal.’
Karan watched her, frozen mid-motion, until she finished her thoughts.
He didn’t seem like the “wolf of Titris,” the most barbaric among barbarians.
Instead, he looked oddly shy—like a giant puppy.

Remembering her plan, Elise suddenly felt like a wicked person luring an innocent down a dark path.
“Would you like to share a drink with me?”
Elise summoned her courage. Karan’s narrow, slanted eyes narrowed further.
It wasn’t a friendly look. Elise tensed up immediately.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband
This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.
They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.
In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.
When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.
She makes his life a living hell.
And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.
Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!
Intro
Dong Xia lost her memory.
Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”
Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.
…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂
*
Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.
The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.
In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.
The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.
And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.
Notes:
1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.
2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
