I'll Be the Queen of the Enemy Country (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 10
“Your Highness, thank you for granting my request last night. I have urgent matters to attend to, so I’ll rise early. I’ll contact you again soon. Until then, could you think about what my lady might desire? I hope our nights continue.”
Though Elise’s note was dry, Karan’s smile deepened.
“So it wasn’t a dream.”
Of course not.
The softness of her skin against his palm, her endless moans whispering in his ear, the sweet scent of her flesh, the supple legs coiling around his waist—all of it felt vividly real.
Karan pressed Elise’s note to his face and took a deep breath.
He didn’t want to miss even the faintest trace of her fragrance lingering on the paper.
[This is the timeline separator]Regina entered just as Elise was gently patting her sore lower back.
“I’m ready, my lady.”
Elise rose with a faint smile, though her brow furrowed from the sharp ache running from her tailbone up to her neck.
“Are you in pain?”
Regina immediately noticed and approached. Elise raised her hand.
“I twisted my back in bed.”
“In bed?”
It sounded odd, but it wasn’t a lie. Elise recalled last night.
Were all Titrians like Karan?
He’d tormented her all night long.
‘Well, it wasn’t torment alone.’
The memory of last night’s pleasure returned, and Elise’s cheeks flushed pink.
To cool herself, she quickly fanned her face, hoping the breeze would carry away the memories of the previous night.
“Everyone arrived early and is already waiting.”
Butler said.
By then, Elise had composed herself and ordered the door opened.
At Elise’s command, Butler’s eye twitched.
‘He clearly resents taking orders from me.’
Elise’s status in the Warton household was pitiful.
Though the servants never showed it openly, they looked down on Elise, the daughter of a gypsy.
And since Viscount Warton himself ignored her, they all followed suit.
In the past, she’d been cowed by their stares and walked on eggshells.
She’d even done chores herself that should’ve been assigned to maids, unaware that doing so only invited more contempt.
‘I won’t live like that anymore. I can’t let those close to me suffer because of me.’
“Open the door. Is it so difficult?”
Her icy rebuke made Butler clear his throat and signal the page standing beside him.
“If you’re so incapable you can’t even open a door, you have no place in this house. Don’t you agree?”
Elise fixed Butler with a cold stare and stepped into the room.
Butler’s eyes lingered on her upright, confident stride.
This wasn’t the usual meek Elise.
‘Has she changed? Probably just a momentary show of bravado.’
Butler dismissed Elise’s transformation.
Yet after watching how she received the guests, he changed his mind.
Elise had truly changed. Perhaps a great storm was about to sweep through the viscount’s household.
Butler was an opportunist, and thus keenly sensitive to shifts in his surroundings.
His instincts told him clearly: he needed to treat Elise well.
[This is the timeline separator]“Welcome. Thank you for accepting my sudden invitation to tea.”
The drawing room where everyone gathered was Iris’s private reception room.
Brighter than Elise’s own chamber, it brimmed with furniture crafted by renowned artisans.
The tapestries were as intricate and lifelike as works by master miniaturists.
And there was something else noticeable.
Trending
Golden flowers, meticulously refined from real gold, adorned vases placed throughout the room.
It was a display of the Warton household’s ostentation.
‘They’re always so desperate to show off—they’re perpetually in debt.’
Elise let out a quiet scoff at the golden flowers, then quickly composed her expression.
“I should be thanking you. I’ve been so curious about this room. I heard Iris kept it hidden, showing it only to close friends, so I was excited—but it’s rather underwhelming.”
Patricia, whose sharply upturned eyes gave her a piercing look, tilted her lips to the left.
Patricia was one of Iris’s followers.
She’d gone to great lengths to befriend Iris, yet never even caught her eye.
Later, she grew close to Iris—and the catalyst was none other than Elise.
‘Iris learned I’d spoken harshly against her and took me under her wing.’
Back then, frustrated that she couldn’t slander Elise herself, Patricia was overjoyed when someone else did it for her.
Thus, Patricia became Iris’s confidante and the chief manufacturer of rumors and gossip about Elise.
‘She doesn’t even know she nearly drank poison from Iris. She’ll likely repeat the same mistakes in this life—remaining Iris’s loyal follower and tool. How unfortunate.’
It pained Elise to see someone used and discarded like that.
But Patricia belonged to Iris anyway. Elise firmly put aside any concern for her.
“It’s rather plain, though admittedly tasteful.”
Hearing Patricia’s words, Elise quickly shook off even the faint regret she’d felt before dying.
“I’ll have tea prepared. And as promised, coffee as well.”
Coffee had only just begun circulating in the Bedroka Kingdom.
In Bedroka, where tea culture was revered exclusively, coffee was one of the most scorned beverages.
Yet rarity always commanded special regard.
Serving coffee, still unfamiliar to most, was therefore a notable gesture.
“Who’d care about that muddy swill?”
Patricia grumbled. Beside her, Debois, who’d been sitting quietly, flinched.
‘Debois loves coffee. She’s always curious about new trends.’
Debois would become the woman who opened the kingdom’s first coffee salon.
Though it would be under her husband’s name, everyone knew the truth:
Debois was the true expert on coffee.
But that was still about five years away. For now, Debois had never properly tasted coffee.
“Coffee brewed from good beans offers even more varied flavors than tea.”
Elise gestured to Regina.
Using the beans Regina brought, Elise brewed the coffee herself.
Its rich aroma instantly filled the drawing room.
It was an unexpectedly appetizing scent—hard to believe it came from something as bitter as coffee.
There was another point of fascination.
No one had ever seen coffee poured from a pot with such a slender, elongated spout.
People claimed they disliked coffee because it was drunk only through the mouth, unlike tea which delighted the eyes, nose, and palate—but properly enjoyed, coffee could pamper all three senses too.
Elise handed the first cup to Debois.
“Would you like to taste it first?”
Debois took the cup immediately, examined its color, then hesitated.
Unlike tea, which was clear and transparent yet varied in hue, the pitch-black coffee repelled her.
But her hesitation lasted only a moment.
She blew gently on the surface, took a sip—and her eyes widened.
“It’s delicious! There’s a hint of sourness, and I can taste the beans too…”
“Try another sip. You’ll catch a subtle floral note as well.”
“Hmph! There’s a limit to deception. Floral notes in that swill? Maybe a foul stench, but never flowers.”
Patricia muttered under her breath, picking a quarrel. Debois glared at her.
The two were like oil and water.
Patricia, perpetually negative and bound by prejudice, versus Debois, who sought to shatter the world’s preconceptions.
Before they could argue, Elise drew in Jasmine, who’d been sitting quietly apart.

“How about you taste it first, Jasmine?”
Pleased by Elise’s attention, Jasmine’s plump cheeks flushed pink.
Jasmine Orleans.
She fell far short of Bedroka’s beauty standards epitomized by Iris.
She was plump, had brown skin, and was short.
Having been ignored since childhood, she’d grown timid and withdrawn.
Thus, people dismissed her even more. At every banquet, Jasmine hurried to hide in the darkest corner.
‘No one knows how remarkably perceptive Jasmine truly is. And she understands better than anyone a woman’s longing to be beautiful.’
That was why Jasmine would later launch a beauty business.
Though it never gained much attention, it wasn’t because her products were inferior.
‘It was because she lacked models.’
Had she only had models—people who could properly showcase and promote her creations—Jasmine would have soared.
Elise knew well how crucial packaging was over the product itself.
After all, it was Elise who’d crafted Chase into the image of a perfect monarch.
‘I’ll make sure Jasmine’s goods sell out before they even hit the shelves.’
That is, if Jasmine accepted Elise’s proposal.
“Oh? It really is delicious! I actually smell flowers! At first I thought it was just bitter, but there’s sourness too.”
Jasmine’s eyes grew round with surprise.
Seeing her approval, even Patricia grew curious about the coffee. She sipped it cautiously, then pursed her lips.
“Well… it’s drinkable.”
Despite those words, Patricia finished two cups.
Though it was their first time gathering as four, conversation never faltered.
Thanks to Elise, who knew all three well and skillfully guided the discussion.
Once she sensed their guards had lowered somewhat, Elise broached her main topic.
“Do you know about that gossip sheet the maids read? It’s full of such amusing stories. The name is…”
Elise trailed off, watching their reactions closely.
“The Alleycat Times, isn’t it?”
“A stray cat? What a peculiar name.”
Patricia reacted instantly. Jasmine replied in a flat tone. Elise studied her carefully before continuing.
“The publisher is shrouded in mystery, but it’s clearly some inexperienced child making it as a joke. The stories seem fabricated from overheard rumors.”
“Why do you think that? Ah, I’ve read it a few times myself. I disagree with you, Elise.”
It was Debois.
“The descriptions of intimate, subtle moments between men and women felt awkward. Especially the recent scandal about Baron Zane and the street singer—it was so clumsy it startled me. Remember when it described pollen drifting through the air as Baron Zane reflected on his feelings after their kiss? No one who’d actually spoken to either of them would say that. Honestly, even just having kissed someone before would prevent such a description—kissing isn’t always that sweet, is it?”
“What’s it like then?”
It was Jasmine. Her eyes sparkled as she listened intently to Elise.
‘Could the publisher be Jasmine?’

Ex-husband Wants Reconciliation
One-line summary: Chasing the wife to the crematorium (making an effort to attract someone who has become indifferent), the female lead doesn’t look back, the second male lead takes the position.

Intro:
To repay the kindness of the older generation, Su Mu crossed into a female-dominated world and became a live-in daughter-in-law of the Yan family, single-handedly saving the Yan family from fire and water.
But her husband, Yan Jiyue, the eldest son of the Yan family, treated her with sarcasm and never showed her a good face.
It wasn’t until after Su Mu’s death that this pampered and arrogant young master shed a few fake tears and pretended to want to die for love.
This life’s kindness was enough. If there was a next life, she would definitely kick Yan Jiyue away.
Who knew that the heavens would be so kind as to allow her to be reborn, returning to the time when she had just married into the Yan family.
Su Mu glanced at the Yan eldest son, who still spoke coldly to her, and threw a divorce letter in front of him.
“Let’s divorce!”
***
Yan Jiyue never imagined that he would be reborn. He happily went to find Su Mu, wanting to make up for the mistakes he had made in his ignorant youth.
Wasn’t the reason the heavens allowed him to be reborn to let him reconcile with Su Mu?
But when he pushed open the door to Su Mu’s room, the person lying on the bed was another man.
Su Mu’s personal attendant, Xie Yi.
Yan Jiyue hated him so much that his teeth itched. In front of Su Mu, Xie Yi was a gentle and considerate whisperer of sweet nothings, but in reality, he was vicious-hearted and deliberately sabotaged their husband and wife relationship.
In the previous life, it was he who secretly hid in Su Mu’s coffin and committed suicide, stealing a step ahead of him to be buried with Su Mu.
Yan Jiyue’s eyes were filled with hatred as he cursed, “What kind of thing are you? Your background is lowly, what right do you have to occupy Su Mu?”
Xie Yi looked at the sleeping Su Mu and no longer pretended to be a whisperer of sweet nothings.
He proudly stuck out his belly, “I have the right because my belly is capable of giving the Wife-master a daughter.”
***
Yan Jiyue was consumed with jealousy. He spread rumors that Xie Yi had once been branded with the mark of a “harlot” on his chest.
But on the night Xie Yi cut off the flesh bearing that mark, Su Mu suddenly realized something was amiss.
“How did you know the exact moment I was poisoned? And why did you show up a month early?”
Xie Yi remained silent, blood from his wound soaking through his robes. His sapphire eyes brimmed with anguish – or was it just a flawless act?
Between a once-arrogant husband now seeking redemption, and a gentle soul willing to die for her – who truly held the darkest secrets? And could it be that Su Mu and Yan Jiyue weren’t the only ones given a second chance at life…?
[Reading Guide]
1. True divorce, chasing the wife to the crematorium, the female lead doesn’t look back, the male lead is Xie Yi.
2. The ex-husband did not cheat, he just realized too late and didn’t realize that he liked the female lead.
