A woman fell from the sky.

And not just any fall—she drifted down slowly, as if floating. It happened right after Benjamin, who had departed from Windsor House early that morning, returned to the palace just half a day later.

“Your Highness, over there…!”

At Mitchell’s exclamation, Benjamin, who had been walking while reviewing documents, lifted his head. The person slowly descending, unable to resist gravity, was none other than Lafine.

“She was in the Imperial Capital.”

The lamp beneath the lantern was dark. Benjamin merely watched as Lafine gently landed on the ground. Despite having searched so desperately for Mother and daughter Kendalli, he neither summoned a servant nor rushed over to catch her.

“What should we do?”

“What about?”

“Just leave her like that?”

“And why not?”

Seeing Benjamin’s completely composed expression, Mitchell thumped his chest in exasperation and said,

“Aren’t you going to wake her up and look for Kendalli? The Empress Consort and His Highness’s… secret ties! Don’t we need to investigate that?”

Mitchell had nearly raised his voice, but hastily lowered it at the last moment. Ironically, this only made him sound more like he was shouting. Benjamin stared indifferently at Lafine, sprawled out not on grass but right in the middle of the carriage path.

“I think you’re misunderstanding something, Mitchell. I wish to pursue the Empress Consort herself—not chase after her shadow.”

He then shifted his gaze toward Mitchell and jerked his chin toward the prostrate Lafine.
