Yuricien, who had been sitting quietly counting the days to today, slowly turned her head and gazed in the direction where the imperial palace lay.

Though the imperial palace in the capital could not possibly be seen from the duke’s domain in the southwest, in Yuricien’s eyes appeared a palace so white and noble that even looking up at it felt humbling. Her eyes narrowed.

‘The Imperial Highness the Crown Prince’s return banquet will soon be held.’

She hadn’t considered it before, but she’d heard that on that day, an unusually large number of people would be moving about the temple. With so much chaos, even if the marriage covenant arrived, the Pope wouldn’t be able to verify it immediately.

The Pope had to infuse the marriage covenant with divine power for it to take effect, and only then would those whose names were written on it know right away. Yet Yuricien still hadn’t sensed anything at all—a clear sign the covenant hadn’t been activated yet.

‘There’s still time.’

Though misfortunes kept piling up, there was still a way out. And Yuricien was confident that even the tiniest crack would be enough for her to push through, lift her head, and survive.

‘I endured the past three years without Father by my side. Now that he’s here, there’s no way I can’t hold on.’

Her resolve—to do anything necessary to reclaim Jorgen and defeat Kendali—still burned fiercely within her.

‘I absolutely won’t fall apart like this.’

Yuricien clenched her fist tightly.

At the same moment.

Thud!

The die, tossed high into the air, was snatched mid-flight by a large hand. Its owner thrust his closed fist right before the nose of the man facing him.

“Choose.”
