“No, really. You might be coming down with something. After all, you rolled around in the snow wearing just a dress.”

Benjamin stood up, muttering that this wouldn’t do. At his worried urging to go rest in her room right away, Yuricien reluctantly nodded. She had just about finished her tea anyway.

“I understand. I’ll go in and rest then. Maybe it’s because I drank warm tea, but this time I really think I’ll be able to sleep well.”

“I hope so too.”

Yuricien, who had come upstairs with Benjamin, gave him a firm reminder at the door.

“You must return to your room.”

“I’ll stay here a bit longer. You never know—you might need something else.”

“In that case, I’ll wake Daisy. I’d rather ask Daisy for help than trouble Your Highness.”

After all, wasn’t what Daisy normally did exactly what Benjamin was doing now? At Yuricien’s resolute words, Benjamin clicked his tongue regretfully but agreed. Staying any longer would only disturb Yuricien’s rest.

“Then sleep well.”

Benjamin bent down and kissed Yuricien’s forehead. Yuricien hunched her shoulders slightly, then soon broke into a shy smile. Standing on tiptoe, she kissed Benjamin’s cheek.

“You too, Your Highness.”

The way she spoke, cheeks flushed red, was unbearably adorable. Benjamin was overwhelmed by an urge to pull Yuricien into his arms—so strong it made his palms itch. But if he embraced her now, he knew he’d only find it harder to part. And that simply wouldn’t do.

‘I’m going to die.’

He’d never heard of anyone actually dying from holding back the urge to embrace their lover—but perhaps he’d become the first. Benjamin finally turned away. Yuricien, noticing his reluctance, swallowed a quiet giggle.
