Upon hearing that Yuricien had returned safely, Jorgen hurried over at once. His face, which had been offering prayers to Gwisheon in his study, now looked as though it had aged ten years in the meantime. His gaze fell upon Yuricien’s stomach, stained a deep crimson. Yuricien hastily explained.

“Oh, oh! This is fake blood, just as I told you beforehand.”

“But the fact that you resorted even to this method clearly shows that Prince Heathcliff has pushed you into a corner.”

Jorgen’s red eyes flashed menacingly for an instant. Yuricien could neither deny nor confirm it. A storm of emotions swirled across Jorgen’s roughened face.

Above all, his overwhelming sorrow stemmed from helplessness. It was wretched enough to stand there with both eyes wide open, yet be forced time and again to send his daughter into mortal danger. To him, lost in despair, Yuricien cautiously approached and embraced him, asking gently,

“Were you very worried?”

“Haa….”

Jorgen let out a weary sigh as he held his daughter close. Though he had mountains of things he wanted to say, he knew Yuricien—who had been on the front lines—must have exhausted herself far more than he had fretted. Thus, Jorgen swallowed every word rising to his throat and merely patted Yuricien’s shoulder.

“Rest for now… We’ll talk tomorrow.”

“Yes, I understand. You rest too, Father. I’m really all right.”

“You may feel fine now, but you must have been frightened without even realizing it. And this incident… it was practically a final resolution for you, wasn’t it? Take good care of yourself, all right?”

“Yes, I will. Daisy will help me.”

From behind Jorgen, Daisy, who had just exhaled in relief, quickly nodded with a bright, alert expression.

“Yes! I’ll do my absolute best to ensure my lady, who’s accomplished such a great feat, can rest comfortably! I won’t let you catch even a chill!”

“Good. I’m counting on you.”
