If You Want A Cheeky Seductress (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
Floyd stared intently at his own palm. The hand, scarred and calloused from gripping his sword and tearing apart monsters, was warmer than most people’s to begin with—whenever his emotions ran high, it would grow hotter and flush red.
After gazing at his palm for a while, Floyd looked up at Roxiana. She was slowly moving her fork, placing finely chopped lettuce into her mouth.
He watched as she chewed a single piece of lettuce—one barely the size of a fingertip—for an unusually long time before finally speaking.
“Your Highness.”
Roxiana swallowed what was in her mouth.
“Yes?”
“May I briefly hold your arm?”
Caught off guard by the request, Roxiana’s eyes widened slightly before she lowered her gaze and replied softly,
“Your Highness is my master—you need not ask permission.”
Floyd narrowed his brow slightly, then abruptly stood and walked over to her side. Saying, “Excuse me,” he gently took hold of her arm.
Her arm was so slender it seemed it might snap at the slightest pressure. Afraid his grip might break it, he held her arm with utmost care while studying Roxiana’s expression.
She kept her eyes lowered, showing no reaction. After a moment, Floyd asked,
“How does it feel?”
Roxiana lifted her head and looked at Floyd, utterly bewildered.
He had suddenly asked to hold her arm—what did this question even mean?
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t you feel anything? Is it not unusually hot…?”
Roxiana blinked slowly, trying to grasp the intent behind his words, then cautiously asked,
“Do you wish me to respond in a… ladylike manner to your touch?”
Only then did Floyd realize the implication of her question. He jerked his hand away as if burned, his face flushing crimson.
“What on earth are you saying? Have you lost your mind?”
It was Floyd’s words that baffled Roxiana now. Wasn’t his question—asking if she felt anything from his unexpected touch—precisely implying that?
After all, it was she who had offered to be his concubine in his bed. If he now wished for her nighttime attendance, she had no reason to refuse.
Then why was this man blushing so fiercely—as though he’d never been intimate with a woman before?
“I meant physically! Literally! I just meant, is it not hot to the touch? Ah, never mind. Forget it. Judging by your expression, I suppose it isn’t.”
It was fascinating to watch him flustered and scrambling for excuses.
The Crimson Beast who annihilated monsters.
She had assumed someone bearing such a title possessed an unshakable will. Indeed, when he had smashed open her crate and looked down at her, he had seemed as fierce as lightning splitting the heavens.
Yet here he was—stammering, flustered, and blurting out nonsense. It was astonishing.
Roxiana had been taught that royalty must never reveal their inner feelings or moods outwardly; they must always remain composed and reserved. Whether sad or joyful, they must always appear elegant and dignified before others.
Though young, the ruler of Torkan commanded universal respect—but the man before her was strikingly different from the sovereign she had imagined.
He laughed heartily, grew angry, showed embarrassment, and expressed irritation openly, revealing his true emotions without restraint. Astonishingly, none of it made him seem vulgar or crude.
Floyd plopped back down into his original seat and said,
“Let’s continue with the meal.”
“I’m full.”
Floyd frowned, glancing at the food on her plate, which hadn’t diminished at all since earlier.
“The portions must be too small.”
“I don’t move around as much as your knights do.”
Floyd picked up an orange from the plate, peeled off its thick rind, meticulously removed every bit of the white pith, sliced a segment, and held it out to Roxiana.
When she hesitated to take it, he asked,
“Shall I feed it to you again, like last time?”
Faint memories of that day returned. Back then, she had been half-delirious—but now, recalling it clearly, she felt utterly embarrassed.
Blushing, Roxiana accepted the orange he offered. She examined the perfectly cleaned segment for a moment before putting it in her mouth.
Watching her chew, Floyd said,
“I heard you went to the garden today.”
“Yes.”
“How was it? Did you like it?”
“It was beautiful—the pond, the flowerbeds, even the sky.”
“I was told Dennis and Jewelry were bothering you.”
“So those are their names.”
Trending
“Hexton’s children—the commander of the Golden Lion Knights. They’re little rascals who run around the Grand Ducal Palace as if it were their own backyard.”
“I see.”
“I’ll introduce you to Hexton next time. I think you’ll like him.”
Roxiana slowly shook her head.
“There’s no need. It’ll only stir resentment among the knights.”
“Why would they resent you?”
“Your Highness, my very existence poses a danger to Torkan. If Crown Prince Felur learns I’m alive, he’ll be displeased and demand you hand me over. And if you continue protecting me as you are now, Gania won’t stay idle either. Naturally, the knights who must safeguard Torkan would resent seeing a mere slave like me occupying the Lily Palace.”
Floyd frowned as he listened to Roxiana speak in such a flat tone.
“Who told you all this?”
“Do I need someone to tell me? It’s obvious if you just think about it.”
“How clever of you, Your Highness. You assess situations quickly.”
“If I were truly clever and quick-witted, I wouldn’t have trusted Crown Prince Felur in the first place. I’m foolish and dull—that’s why I couldn’t protect my family.”
“Protecting them wasn’t your duty, Your Highness.”
“What does ‘duty’ matter when it comes to protecting one’s family? We were all foolish and dull—and among us, I’m the most foolish of all for being the only one who survived.”
“Surviving isn’t a sin, Your Highness.”
Roxiana offered no rebuttal. Only then did Floyd realize she hadn’t changed her expression even once throughout their conversation.
She was speaking more than before, yet her face remained as still as a corpse’s.
It had been better before—she used to frown, or even cry. But now, even as she recounted sorrowful tales, she wore her emotions like a mask, revealing nothing.
Feeling stifled again, Floyd stood abruptly.
“Rest now, Your Highness. If you need anything, just say so.”
Leaving the bedroom, Floyd strode down the corridor and lifted his hand. The sensation of holding Roxiana’s slender arm still lingered in his palm.
—”Do you wish me to respond in a… ladylike manner to your touch?”
Remembering the innocent look in her eyes as she asked that, his face burned once more.
What on earth does that woman think of me? Does she believe I’d demand such a reaction from someone barely clinging to life?
Honestly, what an infuriating woman. He’d never before been left speechless and breathless in front of a woman.
As soon as he stepped out of the Lily Palace, the oppressive heat that had vanished inside returned. The air around Floyd began to scorch once more.
From the training grounds came a loud burst of laughter—”Wahahaha!”—someone must have made a blunder during sparring. Floyd briefly considered stopping by to watch before deciding whether to head straight to his office.
“My lord!”
Cain, spotting Floyd, came running over.
“Adrian’s holding another betting match with the knights.”
Adrian loved wagers and gambling, often turning the training grounds into an impromptu betting arena. Though they usually let him be—since stakes made everyone train harder—occasionally things got too heated and turned into real fights.
“Did a fight break out?”
“Not exactly. Still, I don’t think gambling belongs in the sacred training grounds.”
Seeing Cain pout, Floyd chuckled—then suddenly remembered something and gripped Cain’s forearm firmly. Startled by the unexpected touch, Cain frowned.
“My lord, you’re too hot.”
“Right? It’s hot, isn’t it?”
“Of course it is! Why are you acting like this all of a sudden? Did I do something wrong? I was just reporting Adrian’s actions—not snitching!”
Letting go of the clearly confused Cain, Floyd resumed walking. He could feel Cain rubbing his arm behind him with an incredulous look, but he ignored it.
‘But why?’
Why didn’t this infernal heat affect Roxiana? Why had the flames surging through his veins grown quiet inside the Lily Palace?
‘Come to think of it, the princess survived even within that blaze.’
The heat had been so intense it scorched the hems of knights’ clothes through their protective barriers—yet Roxiana, standing at the heart of the fire, emerged unscathed, not even a single hair burned, though her clothes were charred.
“Hey.”
Floyd addressed the entity coiled within him.
“Just what is it about the princess that makes you quiet down whenever she’s near? Does she mean something to you? Or does she possess some special power?”
As always, the mad presence that ruled Floyd’s life offered no reply. Floyd chuckled softly, aware he probably looked like a madman talking to himself in an empty hallway.
‘Well, fine. I’ve got time.’
He would figure it out slowly. He had asked Roxiana to endure and live for just one year. She probably intended to die after that year—but Floyd was certain.
After a year, she wouldn’t want to die anymore. By then, she’d want to keep living.
Because he would make sure of it.

‘Why am I even trying so hard to save the princess?’
The question flickered in his mind, but he quickly dismissed it. Floyd simply didn’t want to see Roxiana die—and he had always lived by doing what he wanted.
That was reason enough.
