I Will Live for Your Death (20 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 62
The afternoon in the imperial palace was serene. The sun, sinking slowly beyond the horizon, pierced through the gaps between the windows with a deep crimson glow.
Kaelum walked down the corridor with a stern expression. Rarely in his life had he felt so flustered. With narrowed, tiger-like eyes, he scanned every corner of the palace.
His piercing gaze was so sharp that everyone he encountered jumped in alarm and quickly moved aside. Though they had done nothing wrong, merely meeting Kaelum’s eyes made them feel as if they had to confess sins they never committed.
‘…This is serious.’
He halted and pressed his fingers to his temple, letting out a heavy sigh. A migraine was creeping in, likely from days of constant worry.
Kaelum Western’s attire never changed. Always the impeccably tailored uniform of the Imperial Guard, crisply pressed with perfect angles. And there was one more unchanging thing.
A golden locket pendant secured inside his uniform.
Made to commemorate the one person dearest and most unforgettable in his life, the locket held a small portrait and a lock of that person’s hair inside.
He worried about letting others handle it—but worse still, what if someone opened it…?
Kaelum set off again abruptly. He’d thoroughly searched the training grounds—the only place he could’ve lost it on the day of the sword tournament—but found no trace at all.
The Imperial Guard had no leads either. He couldn’t very well ask the mercenaries who’d participated alongside him, leaving him in a real bind.
Just as he was scanning his surroundings, Ilyd approached from the distance.
“I pay my respects to Her Imperial Majesty the Empress.”
“You’ve come at just the right time. I actually have something I’d like to discuss with the Captain of the Imperial Guard.”
As always, Ilyd was utterly composed.

Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
