Though part of the reason was that the guest list made no distinction between imperial and noble factions, it was also because families invited sent everyone—from their daughters who had debuted just months ago to their granddaughters—without sparing a single member.

Amidst the bustling crowd, a send-off ceremony was held, wishing Damian’s merchant ship a safe and successful journey, and everyone present handed handkerchiefs to the boarding crew.

As it was an outdoor party, Ariel worried the weather might again bring heavy rain, but fortunately, contrary to her concerns, the day was exceptionally pleasant.

The summer heat had eased, with a gentle breeze blowing softly, and the sky was perfectly clear without a single cloud.

After spending several hours standing and exchanging greetings with nobles, Ariel finally caught her breath as the sun began to set.

There had been so many nobles to greet that she hadn’t even had a chance to notice the gloves Blake had mentioned.

Sitting on a bench behind a large nearby tree, Ariel took a brief moment to rest.

“Madam, shall I fetch you a glass of water?”

The maid took out a handkerchief and gently patted Ariel’s forehead.

At the same time, she reapplied a bit of smudged rouge and neatly secured the stray wisps of hair behind Ariel’s ears.

Leaning back against the bench, Ariel nodded.

“A glass of water would be lovely. No need to hurry—take your time coming back. You’ve been stuck by my side and probably haven’t eaten properly. Go ahead and grab something to eat while you’re at it.”

Ariel took the handkerchief from the maid and patted her shoulder.
