Lucy and Ethan greeted the guests at the banquet hall, and Ariel was soon able to talk with Lucy.

“Mom, I’m going to play with the kids.”

Lucy pointed toward where Benjamin and Elisha were and smiled at Ariel. The children were already gathered in groups, playing among themselves.

“Okay. Go ahead.”

After Ariel greeted Lucy, she also moved toward where the ladies were.

“I pay my respects to the Duchess of the Empire.”

The ladies’ greetings were directed at Ariel all at once. Ariel responded by gently curving her eyes and picking up a glass of wine from a passing attendant’s tray.

“Hello, everyone.”

“I saw the Duke’s Daughter greeting guests alongside His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince. How is it that the Duke’s Daughter can pull off such a color? You look so beautiful.”

Because Lucy’s outfit was so unusual, the topic immediately came up.

There had been kidnappings, rebellions, and so many unpleasant events that Ariel had been tense about what might become the topic of conversation, but it seemed Lucy’s attire had the effect of offsetting all that.

Ariel smiled softly and answered their questions.

“Lucy said she wanted to look strong. Fortunately, His Imperial Highness the Crown Prince likes it very much too.”

“She wanted to look strong?”

The noble ladies’ eyes widened at Ariel’s words.
