I Don't Recommend a Blunder with a Male Friend (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 4
“What the hell.”
I sat up slightly, my face deeply scowled.
“Hey! Don’t move!”
As that guy lifted his upper body, the blanket barely clinging to him slid down with a soft rustle.
I quickly pulled the blanket back over him and shouted.
“Don’t talk so loudly. My head’s pounding.”
Was his headache really the priority right now? I was the one about to cry.
“Huh, what happened? Why… why am I… with you…?”
I stammered, asking him.
When I asked, he furrowed his brows even deeper and said,
“You really don’t remember?”
“Re-remember?”
I tried to recall.
At the soup restaurant, I’d downed glass after glass of Dadidan soju. When the alcohol hit me and I got all dizzy, I loudly insisted on a second round.
He’d tried to take me home, but I’d darted into the convenience store next door, so he followed me in, running his hands through his hair in frustration. And then…
“You really don’t remember?”
While I was clutching my head, trying hard to think, Ji Seo Jun asked me again.
“W-wait. I remember something, so just give me a sec.”
Right—I’d gone into the convenience store, hypnotized by the sign that said “4 cans of beer for 10,000 won,” and picked out different kinds to buy.
I think I later added canned peanuts and seaweed too, saying we’d need some snacks.
Then I sat on the bench right outside the store, cracked open a can, and gulped it down.
Ji Seo Jun’s distinctly annoyed face, sitting across from me, came back clearly.
But after that… nothing. My memory went completely blank.
“I don’t remember.”
“You’re kidding me? Try harder.”
It felt like something terrible would happen if I didn’t remember, so I gripped my head tightly and strained to recall—but everything after that point was pitch black. Nothing came to mind.
“I… I really don’t…”
“Ugh…”
When I whimpered that I couldn’t remember, Ji Seo Jun vigorously rubbed his head and abruptly stood up.
“Seriously! Put some clothes on!”
Startled by the sudden scene, I shrieked and yanked the blanket up over my head.
I heard heavy footsteps, then the sound of a door closing, followed by the sound of running water.
Did he go to take a shower?
I peeked out from under the blanket and looked around, but that guy’s bare body was nowhere in sight.
The water was coming from the room Ji Seo Jun had entered. Only then did I start to grasp just how serious this situation was.
Twenty-nine years.
Almost thirty years.
Ji Seo Jun, born just two days before me, had been my friend without missing a single day since I was born.
That meant we’d spent nearly twenty-nine and a half years as just friends.
Yet somehow, I’d spent the night with him—as a man and a woman.
“Moon Da Yul! Remember, you idiot! Just remember!”
I punched my own head hard enough to make a thudding sound.
“Will hitting yourself like that really help?”
He’d already come back from the shower, wrapped only in a towel covering his private parts, tousling his wet hair as he stepped out.
“Why are you out here without clothes!”
“Where am I supposed to get clothes!”
Why was he asking me that? I yanked the blanket over my head again.
I felt wronged and furious.
How could he sleep with me? I’d heard some people could spend the night with someone of the opposite sex they didn’t even like.
Not me. I’d never do it unless it was someone I truly cared about.

Besides, wasn’t I his friend?
Or… had I never really been his friend at all? Just his subordinate, perhaps?
A wave of sorrow started welling up inside me.
“What are you doing?”
“Wha… hup. What do you think I’m… huhh.”
“Are you crying?”
I absolutely did not want to be seen crying in bed after sleeping with a man, especially with my thirties just around the corner—but the tears sneaking out quietly were impossible to stop.
“Hey.”
Ji Seo Jun tugged hard at the blanket.
“Don’t pull it!”
Panicking, I clutched the blanket tightly.
But his strength was overwhelming.
With a sharp *pfft*, I was yanked along with the blanket and landed right against his chest.
“Hey!”
Startled by the firmness against my cheek, I hurriedly tried to sit up and scramble away—but he firmly held my face, refusing to let go, leaving me awkwardly trapped under the blanket.
“Are you crying?”
“……”
Ji Seo Jun’s expression looked extremely dangerous. Based on nearly thirty years of experience, I knew he was seriously furious right now.
“N-no, I’m not crying.”
“Then what’s this?”
He brushed his thumb along the corner of my eye and then held it right in front of my face, showing me the moisture it had picked up.
“That’s snot.”
“Does snot come out of your eyes now?”
At times like this, couldn’t he just pretend not to notice? He always had to correct me like this to feel better.
“You were the one begging me to sleep together—why are you crying now?”
“Me?”
What was Ji Seo Jun even saying? Who begged whom? I was so flabbergasted that my tears instantly dried up.
“So, besides you, who else is here?”
“You don’t just say stuff like that because I can’t remember!”
“Why would I lie to you?”
“Well…”
Truthfully, Ji Seo Jun had never lied to me before. Or maybe he’d never been caught lying—perhaps that brilliant mind of his had perfectly fooled me all along.
I, on the other hand, had lied constantly, shamelessly, and always got caught.
“Did I really… really do that?”
“Yeah.”
His answer was blunt and final.
“Why?”
“Why? Why what?”
His grip on my face tightened. I barely managed to pull my face free from his hands.
“O-okay, let’s say I begged you to sleep with me. Then you could’ve just refused!”
For once in a while, something sensible actually came out of my mouth.
Assuming I was drunk and didn’t recognize him, and begged him for a one-night stand—then he, perfectly sober, could’ve simply said no.
Of course, this was all based on the assumption that I’d actually made a move on him.
“Do you really not remember?”
Frustrated by Ji Seo Jun’s incessant nagging, I snapped at him.
“I said I don’t!”
“Hah.”
Ji Seo Jun pressed his index and middle fingers firmly against his temples, as if fighting a headache.
“Listen carefully. I’m only going to explain this once, nicely.”
For some reason, I swallowed hard, tense.

“Do you also not remember vomiting all over my clothes while drunk?”
I shook my head.
“I guess you don’t remember telling me to get away because I smelled bad after you threw up on me?”
Ah. So that’s why he didn’t have his clothes on…
“And after somehow cleaning things up and barely managing to get you to the hotel, you… then you… saying that to me… you honestly don’t remember any of that? Huh?”
“That’s… a lie.”
“If you don’t remember anything, how do you know whether what I’m saying is a lie or not?”
“Well…”
It was infuriating and humiliating not to remember. I simply couldn’t accept what he was saying.
“So, have you been doing this with other guys whenever you drink?”
“No!”
“Really?”
“Really… Waking up in a strange place… sleeping with someone who isn’t my boyfriend—that’s a first for me!”
Just as fresh tears were about to well up again, clothes arrived at our hotel room—Ji Seo Jun’s clothes.
He opened the door, took the clothes, and turned to me.
“Go wash up and get dressed first.”
After showering, I peeked out through the bathroom door and saw my neatly folded clothes and underwear. My ears instantly turned red again.
Grabbing my clothes, I went back into the bathroom, changed, and came out. Ji Seo Jun was sitting on a chair, looking almost exactly as he had when we first left home.
“Let’s go home first. You have to go to work tomorrow.”
“…Yeah.”
Ji Seo Jun walked ahead. I followed close behind, keeping about three steps of distance.
We quickly flagged down a taxi in the hotel lobby.
[11:53 PM]That’s what the clock inside the dark taxi read.
All the way home, Ji Seo Jun and I didn’t exchange a single word. Ji Seo Jun sat with his arms crossed, staring only out the window, his brows furrowed in a tense, unreadable expression.
After what felt like ages, the taxi stopped midway between our two homes. As I stepped out and headed straight for my apartment, he grabbed my arm.
“Are you feeling okay?”
“Huh?”
“It seemed pretty intense.”
I immediately clamped both hands over his mouth and, like a meerkat, anxiously scanned the area to see if anyone was around.
“Be quiet.”
Seemingly unbothered by how pitiful I must have looked—terrified of being overheard—he simply pulled my hands away.
“I asked if you’re okay.”
“A little sore… No! I’m fine!”
I finished my sentence and hurriedly dashed up to my apartment.
Beep-beep-beep-beep.
I entered the familiar code—so ingrained I could type it blindfolded—and walked in. Mrs. Kim In Young greeted me, her face plastered with cucumber slices.
“Coming home late? Were you with Seo Jun this whole time?”
“No!”
“Oh my goodness!”
Startled by my loud reply, Mrs. Kim jumped and dropped a few cucumber slices from her face.
“What’s with the shouting!”
Did Mom realize her voice was even louder? But I didn’t have the energy to argue with her.
“Sorry, Mom. I’m really tired. I’m going to bed now.”
A few curses hit me from behind, but right now, I didn’t care at all.
I collapsed onto my bed. The familiar scent calmed me just a little.
“I’ve gone insane. Totally lost it. Absolutely bonkers.”
After repeating “I’ve gone insane” at least a hundred times, I finally managed to fall asleep.
“I’m ruined.”
Because I’d slept poorly, I didn’t hear my alarm—and being late was now certain.

When I complained about why no one had woken me up, Mom got furious, which actually helped me get ready slightly faster.
Even getting ready faster didn’t save me from being late. As I rushed out, panting, to hail a call taxi, I spotted a familiar back.
“Moon Da Yul.”
“Hey. Later. Let’s talk later. I’m going to be late.”
I didn’t even hear Ji Seo Jun calling out to me.
“Sir, please drive off quickly.”
“Yes, we’re going.”
Ji Seo Jun grew smaller and smaller in the distance behind me.
Today was truly the worst. It being Monday was bad enough, but being late meant I got thoroughly scolded by the team leader.
“Assistant Moon Da Yul, aren’t you embarrassed in front of your junior? Being an hour late—do you even have your head on straight?”
“My head? No, not really.”
I desperately held back the urge to say that aloud.
How could I possibly have my head on straight? I’d slept with my friend of thirty years—how was I supposed to be normal, Team Leader?
I bowed my head and apologized repeatedly before finally returning to my desk.
“Assistant Moon, are you okay?”
“Yeah. I’m fine.”
My direct junior, employee Baek In Ha, looked at me with concern.
“Assistant Moon, this…”
She quietly placed on my desk my absolute favorite candy—the green grape-flavored one.
“In Ha…”
Touched, I looked at her—only for her to blush shyly and hurry back to her seat.
I popped the grape candy into my mouth and threw myself into work. The busy season with frequent business trips was approaching soon, so there was a growing pile of preparations to tackle.
Because I’d been late, I hadn’t managed to finish several tasks before lunchtime arrived.
Starving—having missed breakfast—I was heading to the company cafeteria with Baek In Ha when I checked my messages and froze on the spot.
