I Don't Recommend a Blunder with a Male Friend (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 3
I’m ruined. I’m completely ruined.
Working at the same company as that guy… My strength just drained away, as if the floor had suddenly caved in and taken me down with it.
“What’s with that reaction?”
“Huh? Oh, nothing. I’ve never heard of that company before. Haha. Hahaha.”
I didn’t even realize I was lying. Since I’d already told a lie, I decided I’d just keep hiding for as long as I could.
Given the nature of my team, avoiding him entirely was impossible. So, I chose to face the inevitable blow as late as possible.
Based on my past experiences, the later I got tangled up with this guy, the better.
“Which company do you work for?”
Ji Seo Jun crossed his arms and asked with an arrogant look in his eyes.
“Me? Oh, I… you wouldn’t know even if I told you. It’s a small company… really small… tiny.”
“No website? I could just look it up.”
“Oh! We don’t even have a website! It’s a really harmonious family-run company—super family-like, you know? Ever heard of it? Huh?”
At my flustered rambling, one of Ji Seo Jun’s thick, sharp eyebrows arched upward.
“Auntie mentioned something about where you work…”
Mrs. Kim In Young had gone around bragging to the entire neighborhood when I got my job.
She’d strutted around proudly for a while, boasting about how I’d landed a job at a foreign company during this tough economy.
I hadn’t realized she’d even called Ji Seo Jun in the U.S. to spread the news.
I was terrified he’d suddenly remember my company’s name.
“Beef soup’s here.”
Just as I was nervously shaking my legs in anxiety, the food arrived at the perfect moment.
I’d brought him to the beef soup restaurant he’d said he wanted to try.
The reddish, delicious-looking beef soup bubbled invitingly. Side dishes of chives, light kimchi, and mixed kimchi were neatly arranged.
I snipped the mixed kimchi into bite-sized pieces with scissors and said,
“You must be hungry? Eat up quickly. This place is incredibly tasty.”
I hurriedly urged food onto him, hoping to distract him from thinking any further.
I really liked this place. It was a famous restaurant near my office, and despite the slightly long distance, I often came here whenever I craved this taste.
Ji Seo Jun absolutely loved Korean food. It was surprising how such a local-taste guy had managed to live in the U.S. for ten years…
Wait, no.
Actually, come to think of it, Ji Seo Jun had only lived in America for exactly eight years. He came back to Korea midway to complete his mandatory military service.
Back then, I’d gone to the U.K. for a language course and immediately headed to Australia for a working holiday, so we never crossed paths.
It’d been an escape disguised as living abroad.
Even during military service, there was leave. And every time he came out on leave, I knew he’d definitely hassle me.
I remembered Ji Seo Jun had been quite disappointed back then.
“You eat quickly too.”
After urging me, Ji Seo Jun scooped up a big spoonful and shoveled it into his mouth. He really ate deliciously.
The fact that Ji Seo Jun didn’t pick at his food was the one thing I genuinely liked about him.
Watching him eat made me feel hungry too, so I quickly picked up my spoon.
“Auntie, one bottle of soju, please.”
Luckily, it seemed he’d given up trying to recall my company’s name, so I finally relaxed.
Feeling at ease, I savored the beef soup leisurely.
Enjoying the soup naturally brought thoughts of alcohol. Without asking his opinion, I ordered soju.
Beef soup goes with soju—leaving it out would be a crime. Absolutely. Without a doubt.
I’d never been able to order soju when I came here during weekday lunch hours. That had always left me feeling unsatisfied.
“Starting this early?”
“Not drinking soju with beef soup? That’s cheating.”
“What the hell have you been doing all this time without me?”
We’d been inseparable through high school, yet Ji Seo Jun and I had never once shared a drink.
Maybe that was a good thing.
I’d always been a little scared to show Ji Seo Jun another side of myself.
If he’d met that other side of me in my twenties, I probably wouldn’t have touched a single drop of alcohol till now. Just the thought sent chills down my spine.

The restaurant auntie silently placed a bottle of soju and two small glasses on our table.
“You gonna drink too?”
I shook the soju bottle vigorously to swirl the liquid inside.
Ji Seo Jun, who’d been silently chewing with only his jaw moving, snatched the bottle from my hand.
Then, he coolly popped the cap open and poured soju steadily into my glass before handing the bottle back to me.
“Have you ever tried soju?”
“Yeah, during military leave.”
I tilted the bottle he’d handed me and poured soju into his glass as I asked.
“I see. Good experience.”
He replied indifferently as I filled his glass. Setting the bottle down, I lifted my glass, watching the clear soju shimmer inside.
“What are you doing?”
“We gotta clink glasses!”
He gave a small chuckle at my words, raised his glass, and gently tapped it against mine.
“Khhhaaa. Perfect.”
I downed the soju in one gulp and chased it with a spoonful of beef soup. This was it. I nodded in satisfaction.
“Seriously, dude? What was that reaction?”
He frowned deeply, his expression shifting rapidly through a rainbow of emotions.
“Isn’t that the normal reaction?”
I genuinely didn’t understand what I’d done wrong. Was it because I didn’t pour it over my head? Was that it?
“No… other girls don’t act like that.”
“For real? How do those girls drink, then?”
When I asked, Ji Seo Jun silently poured soju into his empty glass.
Then he downed it in one go, merely wrinkling his nose slightly before letting out a short, sharp “Ha.”
Could he really be reenacting it right now? I suddenly grew curious about which girls he’d been drinking with.
“Seriously, did girls really drink like that?”
“Yeah.”
After finishing his reenactment, Ji Seo Jun shoveled beef soup into his mouth.
An involuntary laugh slipped out of me. I never thought I’d hear something so absurd in my lifetime. My snickering only deepened Ji Seo Jun’s scowl.
“I told you to try dating more, didn’t I?”
At my words, Ji Seo Jun stopped eating and sharply set his spoon down on the table with a “thud.”
I flinched. I instantly regretted bringing up dating, but the words were already out.
“Ah, no… that’s just what cunning foxes do. You don’t even realize girls are playing tricks on you… Since lots of girls cling to you, you need… good judgment… to find the right ones….”
My voice trailed off under Ji Seo Jun’s gaze.
He absolutely hated it whenever I brought up his love life.
How much did he hate it? Whenever I mentioned dating, he’d fix me with the iciest glare, stay completely silent, and then make my life miserable.
His methods of torture varied.
He’d deliberately eat right in front of me in the crowded school cafeteria during lunch, put his arm around girls in front of me, suddenly run over to act like we knew each other during basketball games at sports day, or dump his belongings on me—all of it was pure malice.
Every time he pulled those stunts, I’d get harassed by girls all day—or even for over a week.
He did all this fully aware it was the very thing I hated most.
Just recalling those memories made goosebumps rise on my arms.
And today, I’d gone and brought up dating with Ji Seo Jun. Had I grown lax after being apart for so long?
My guard around Ji Seo Jun must’ve dulled. Had ten years really done that to me?
Apparently, it hadn’t been as short a time as I’d thought.
I gave up on explaining myself and resignedly filled my soju glass to the brim.
“Soju’s hitting hard tonight…”
Maybe it was because Ji Seo Jun opposite me tasted bitter—but today, the soju tasted unusually sweet. One empty bottle turned into two.
Ji Seo Jun, who’d been drinking with me, suddenly snatched my glass away.
“Had enough?”
“Why? Aren’t we heading straight home after this?”
“Well, yeah… but don’t you have work tomorrow?”

“Ugh! Don’t bring up such unlucky talk.”
I snatched the soju bottle back from Ji Seo Jun, poured another generous stream into my glass, and admired how beautifully it sparkled.
“If you mess up, I won’t let it slide.”
“Hic. Hup. Hic.”
His warning-laced words made me start hiccuping. How startled must I have been to hiccup like this? I felt genuinely sorry for myself.
So I drank. And drank again.
This place even makes great head meat.
That’s why the alcohol went down so easily.
✨✨
“Ah. I’m dead.”
I woke up from sleep with a splitting headache. My hoarse voice automatically croaked, “I’m dead.” My throat felt so parched I could barely breathe, and I barely managed to open my eyes.
Where… am I?
I froze for a moment, staring at the completely unfamiliar ceiling.
“Crap…”
My brain, which had momentarily shut down, slowly creaked back to life, gradually piecing together my situation.
My body felt cool, and my mind screamed, “You’re completely naked right now.” I just needed to look down to confirm—but I couldn’t muster the courage.
Hoo… hoo…
After a few deep breaths, I peeked open one eye and lifted the blanket slightly.
“I’ve lost it. I’m totally insane. Moon Da Yul has completely lost her mind.”
Just as I’d feared, I wasn’t wearing a single thread. And what were these multicolored marks all over me? Who did I sleep with? Who?!
At that moment, I heard rustling beside me—someone turning over in bed.
“Hup.”
I curled up tightly and covered my mouth with both hands. In my dazed state, I hadn’t noticed there was a man beside me who’d spent the night with me.
Who is it? Who exactly did I sleep with?
I wanted to kick the blanket off in frustration, but the fact that I was naked barely held me back.
Clothes and underwear were scattered all over the floor.
Should I just gather them up as they are and run away?
Or should I quietly wash off this sticky sweat before leaving?
But what if the guy beside me wakes up?
‘Oh, hi there.’
Would I really have to greet him so casually?
I mentally ran through a few possible scenarios.
But who even was beside me? It hit me far too late, but I gathered my courage and quickly turned my head to check.
All I saw was an extremely irritated-looking back.
It was broad—so broad. His back, split down the middle like the Pacific Ocean, radiated raw masculinity. Apparently, there’d been a drought on his Pacific—because thanks to me hogging all the blanket, his nakedness was exposed clear down to just above his hips, and that view was truly dizzying.
It was absolutely perfect.
How on earth did I drag a guy like this into bed? Confusion began to seep in, and that confusion quickly sparked curiosity.
His body was gorgeous—but what about his face? I didn’t particularly care for handsome faces thanks to Ji Seo Jun’s influence, but curiosity got the better of me. Clutching the blanket tightly, I raised my upper body.
The moment I saw his face, I was utterly shocked.
“You… what are you doing here?”
He only frowned slightly at my outburst and showed no sign of waking up. I reached out to shake him awake—but immediately jerked my hand back in surprise.
My fingertips had brushed against his firm, bare skin. I scrubbed my hand vigorously against the blanket to erase the strange sensation, but it wouldn’t go away easily.
“Hey! Wake up! Hey!”
I raised my voice louder this time. At the sound, the man who’d been sleeping with his back turned groaned, scrunched up his face, and finally opened his eyes.
It was Ji Seo Jun.
