“You know it wasn’t on purpose.”

After the game ended, right after I accepted Victor’s proposal to share the first dance, he immediately washed up and returned to school.

His pitch-black shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, and his white necktie was haphazardly draped around his neck. He surely knew how to tie it properly—it was obvious he hadn’t bothered because he’d rushed back in a hurry.

I lowered my gaze like a guilty criminal, staring at his tanned elbows.

Victor looked down at me, his face flushed with heat.

“…I was willing to excuse your clumsiness, but this is the blues! It’s not the can-can or a waltz—how on earth do you keep stepping on my feet with every single move?”

“I already said I was sorry.”

“Worse yet, you even wore heels, which isn’t like you at all—it hurts even more. Is it still considered murder if someone kills you with stiletto heels?”

Victor lazily glanced down at my feet, his arm still around my lower back, watching me stumble awkwardly in shoes I rarely wore.

Heat rushed to my face, and I gritted my teeth. Even though I’d insisted it wasn’t intentional, he kept mocking my terrible dancing.

When Victor lifted his eyes again, our gazes met. Seeing my furious expression, he gave a teasing little smirk.

“I’ll send you the hospital bill later.”

“Just stop it already.”

I really should’ve dropped this whole thing right then and there. Dancing blues, pressed close to a guy under strange purple lights, was absolutely not my style. In that moment, I regretted not rejecting Victor’s dance invitation outright.

As I tried to pull my hand away and leave the stage, Victor caught my arm again and dragged me back to the center.
