“Puca! When did you get back!”

Puca, who had just returned from a two-month voyage, looked slightly thinner than before. But perhaps because he’d lost some fat, he appeared much younger.

Cookus spread his arms wide and strode toward his long-missed friend, pulling him into a tight embrace.

He could feel Puca’s firm body even through his clothes, and Cookus couldn’t help but silently marvel. With the weight loss, even his demeanor had changed—so much so that it felt like hugging a different person.

“Disgusting. Let go.”

Though Puca grimaced, he didn’t push Cookus away. He, too, was glad to see his old friend again. Cookus smelled strongly of sweat, likely from coming straight from work.

“So, did you find what you went looking for?”

Cookus, who had been scrutinizing his friend’s face as if he were a mother seeing her son after a long absence, suddenly remembered and asked.

After bringing back the father of the wolf boy, Puca had abruptly left again, vowing to retrieve the stolen treasure of the wolf tribe.

“Sort of?”

Though Puca answered vaguely, Cookus—who knew his friend’s personality better than anyone—could tell he’d obtained exactly what he’d wanted.

Since Puca wasn’t the type to boast outright, this level of admission surely meant he’d achieved something extraordinary.

“Oh! I’m curious! Show it to me too.”

Cookus asked with eager anticipation, though his hands held nothing. He kept scanning the area around Puca.

“It’s something I promised to return to its owner, so I can’t just show it off carelessly.”
