“Do you know how much can be done with Jihi roots? With this amount, I could even save someone on the brink of death! Good heavens! The leaves are so incredibly fresh! May I take just a few to examine them closely? Wait—this isn’t Jihi root at all! Ohhh! These plump, glistening berries! They’re even more beautiful than rubies!”

Before the mountainous pile of Jihi plants, Croft knelt down and poured forth an endless stream of fervent praise.

“Meeting Princess Stella was a blessing bestowed upon me by the heavens! It’s truly unbelievable! Oh, dear gods! That such a thing would happen to me!”

At first, Stella was delighted that Croft knew about Jihi, but as his mouth showed no sign of ever closing, she gradually grew exhausted.

Like a lovesick youth, Croft kept repeating his praises of Jihi without pause.

Finally, just before Croft launched into his eighth round of admiration, Stella hastily thrust several pre-prepared bundles toward him to silence him.

“This one contains whole plants, roots and all, for you to study yourself. This one is just the leaves, this one the berries, and this last pouch holds only the roots. Please check them.”

Staring at the four pouches suddenly placed before him, Croft looked utterly incredulous—until tears began streaming down his cheeks.

“Am I truly allowed to take these and study them myself?”

“Of course. I set them aside specifically for you, Master.”

“How can I ever repay such kindness!”

Though he had coldly rejected the jewels Anet had just given him, Croft now wept openly, overwhelmed with gratitude for the few plant roots Stella had offered.

Had Anet witnessed this scene, she might have collapsed in sheer exasperation, clutching her throat.

“Just teach me later if I have any questions during my studies. That would be more than enough for me.”

“You—you’re satisfied with just that? Are you an angel, Your Highness? How can someone be so devoted to learning? I’ve trained countless students, but never have I met anyone burning with such pure scholarly passion as you.”
