After being ill for a long time, Croft now had a much sharper appearance than before. Wearing glasses as sharp as his jawline, Croft stared intently at the princesses.

Fleeting traces of contempt occasionally flickered in Croft’s eyes as he looked at the pitiful princesses, who did nothing all day but wear extravagant clothes and adorn themselves with expensive jewels.

“Pathetic figures, taken as hostages yet so consumed by vanity that they spend day and night buying dresses,” Croft had concluded about the princesses.

Though they had already attended several classes, the princesses had never once worn the same dress twice.

Just like people with nothing better to do than compete in buying dresses and jewels, they appeared each lesson dripping from head to toe in ornaments—different colors, different fabrics, different kinds of gems every time.

Wasting his time on these empty-headed princesses was the ultimate waste. Had it not been for His Imperial Majesty’s command, he would never have accepted teaching these pitiful princesses.

“Today, we will begin with the first emperor of the Credion Empire…”

Croft’s stiff voice suddenly cut off mid-sentence. The princesses, wondering what had happened, lifted their heads—which had been bowed—and stared at Croft.

He had stopped lecturing and was now staring fixedly at someone.

The princesses’ gazes slowly followed Croft’s line of sight backward. Croft was staring at Princess Stella.

Startled to find everyone in the classroom suddenly looking at her, Stella froze in confusion, glancing nervously from one person to another.

Among all those stares, the most unsettling was Croft’s—the history teacher’s piercing gaze, which seemed ready to grab and kill her on the spot.

Why is he looking at me like that? Did I make a mistake?

Unsure whether she’d unknowingly done something wrong, Stella mentally retraced every moment since entering Muge Castle. No matter how hard she thought, she couldn’t recall any mistake or wrongdoing.

In fact, this was the first time she’d encountered Croft since arriving here after saying she was unwell. After a brief moment of thought, Stella decided it must be that Croft disliked her just as the other princesses did, and chose not to worry about it.
