“Yes. I was scared.”

It was the first time she had ever opened up about her feelings to someone. And of all people, she chose a woman who was drunk and not in her right mind. But it didn’t feel bad at all.

“You must have been lonely.”

“Were you lonely?”

“Terribly.”

Stella lazily smiled and lowered her head. Her body, swaying like a pendulum, suddenly tipped forward.

“Oh!”

Kai moved reflexively. Stella’s flushed, soft cheek brushed against Kai’s neck.

Before Stella could hit the floor, Kai gently caught her and carefully laid her back down on the bed.

Once on the bed, Stella fumbled with her hands, seemingly searching for the blanket. Kai covered her with the blanket Brin had folded aside. Only when the blanket warmed her up to her chin did Stella finally smile contentedly and say,

“I’m not lonely now.”

“Yes.”

Kai replied curtly as he tucked the blanket around Stella. Normally, one would either sleep, talk, or laugh—but Stella, drunk as she was, was doing all three at once.

“I’ve got cute earth sprites, reliable Mila, dependable Daren, capable Brin who can do anything, and Rian who cooks so well. Oh! And another one.”

Though swaying like a clock pendulum from the alcohol, Stella suddenly remembered someone else. She bolted upright and spread her fingers wide.
