As the number of earth ghouls gathering outside the tent kept growing, the previously cocky earth sprites began slowly retreating backward.

“Huh? There are quite a few, aren’t there?”

“Yeah. Why do they keep increasing?”

Seeing Ark and Esta bewildered, Oton, who had been staring seriously outside, suddenly jumped up and shouted,

“They’re just earth ghouls after all—idiots who can’t even speak on their own.”

The earth ghouls standing outside echoed Oton’s words like a roundelay.

Milla, hearing nothing, remained calm and quiet as ever, but Stella was on the verge of going mad from the buzzing noise outside.

If they didn’t drive them away and just left them like this, they wouldn’t be able to step outside or do anything at all.

Perhaps because they were far from Verdura, the earth sprites’ power seemed weakened. Even if they had been at full strength, facing so many earth ghouls with just four of them would have been difficult.

Determined to do something, Stella glanced around and picked up a pickaxe. Since it was said to be a noble pickaxe imbued with the power of the earth, she figured it might at least be of some use.

“Your Highness, where are you going with that?”

When the usually quiet Stella suddenly stood up holding the pickaxe, Mila asked with a startled expression. Mila’s eyes flickered anxiously between the pickaxe and Stella’s face.
