It was Lois who was leaving for the battlefield, yet strangely, Stella’s heart fluttered and she couldn’t sleep. Lois had come to see her last night, saying he’d depart tomorrow morning, but only muttered a few incomprehensible words before abruptly leaving as if nothing had happened.

It all began when she boastfully claimed she’d once received a gift from another man. Lois started asking who gave it to her, what it was, and which gift she liked the most.

But whether because he was incredibly perceptive or because Stella simply had no talent for lying, Lois quietly listened as Stella rolled her eyes around while fabricating answers—until, at some point, he barely seemed to be listening anymore, and eventually, one corner of his mouth curled up in a crooked smirk.

It was a derisive snort so dismissive that even the earth sprites, who had been quietly gathering around the bench where Lois and Stella sat side by side, noticed it. Stella couldn’t help but flare up in anger.

“It’s true! It was a dollhouse worth twenty thousand pounds—I really did receive it.”

Oton, who had been listening uncertainly to Stella’s claim, nodded vigorously.

She’d been itching to support Stella all along but couldn’t say anything because she didn’t know the details—so when something familiar finally came up, she was overjoyed.

“Yes! It really was a wonderful house. You have no idea how nice it was. Every room had beds and chairs perfectly sized for us.”

“Exactly. It was truly lovely. And the sofa was so soft.”

“I liked the dishes the most. The pots were great too. Stella said if you put a candle in the oven, you could actually bake real bread.”

Judging by how eagerly the earth sprites spoke up, it really must have been an expensive dollhouse.

“Who gave you that dollhouse?”

Kai asked the question, curious about what name she’d come up with this time. He found Stella’s habit of rolling her eyes whenever she didn’t want to lose an argument utterly adorable and couldn’t stop watching her. Even if someone asked him why he enjoyed it so much, he couldn’t have explained.

But the moment Stella spoke the name, the sly, relaxed smile that had been on Kai’s face vanished completely.

“His name is Ian. He’s extremely wealthy and gave it to me because he wants to impress me.”
